Partially what was funny was the pose that GSP chose, it is one I have often seen gorillas in when they are chilling. It did not seem like GSP was aware of this, but was probably a key part in the Gorilla's response (or who knows, maybe he had been coached to use that pose but did not mention it.)

Haven’t you seen the movie Gorillas In the Mist? About Dian Fossey, and her working with, and trying protect the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda. She wrote a book by the same name. It’s a really good book. She was murdered by poachers circa the mid-80s.

You have to act submissive to an aggressive Silverback. GSP would have been coached about that. And you see that kind of behaviour throughout the movie.

Although every time the gorilla would land it would hurt and even drop Georges at times, but GSP will maintain his guard and neutralize any ground and pound while the Gorilla gasses himself out during any control time he actually gets.

This is also how the Khabib fight would have went except without any knockdowns. (Unless GSP throws a high kick)

The guides teach you in detail what to do around the gorillas, that was no coincidence
