News Guaranteed purses and bonuses for UFC 298, as filed with the CSAC (via LA Times)

Lol ok? It's true. It's been proven time and time again

In rare cases in the past, someone may be given more money and it's usually due to certain circumstances.

In no way, shape or form is it standard for people to receive charity from Uncle Goof. The fact idiots like you actually believe everyone's pay is magically higher because Dana walks around handing out gifts in envelopes is hilarious but not surprising.

Stick to reddit and fairy tales.

The Dern and Cejudo numbers are concerning but for different reasons. Glad that Geoff Neal is cracking 6 figures, he's worth it and then some.

Dudes still getting 10k/10k......criminal.

"Superbowl of MMA"? Pretty sure guys that play in the Superbowl wipe their ass with more than 10k.
Bench warmers get paid more anually and just train and sit out games unless the stars/top players get injured

These are all pretty low

But let's remember they can fight 2 to 3 times a year, and working 16 to 24ish weeks of the year "in camp" while the rest of the year is do whatever and stay in shape.

Any of these guys making over 50k for show, means they living comfortably and if they are winning then they are making 250k + a year, again working less than a school teacher does.

Do that for 20 years and then what?

You better save a bunch of money to invest once you are forced to retire around 40 y/o

Reminds me when back in the day, Fedor was getting low pay outside the UFC and people used to justify it as "he gets other payouts which makes it worth it". People today would be like, he's getting peanuts!

But let's remember that this isn't how this actually works in real life, where expenses for fighters are much greater than your average Joe 9-5er. And most fighters do not consistently fight 3x a year. And by definition for every fighter that wins another loses. So any 'but if they win' factor is offset by those that necessarily lose.

What's your point? We all have to work with the same math. Control our expenses based on our income. Fighters have 6-8 week camps. Better be living cheaply if you're on a $10k / $10k contract.

Just like any other sport, many have made significant sacrifices to make it into the pros. Fighting is no different.

Teachers also don't compete in the 'Superbowl of teaching' and they don't usually get their heads smashed in and suffer life-long healty problems.

Ok, and?

No one is forcing anyone to cage fight. These risks are all known ahead of time.

Many professions get paid far less than their worth. People choose to accept the compensation level for the satisfaction of doing the job.

And they don't usually earn 1/10th of less valuable teachers in worse schools, such as some top MMA fighters do compared to some top boxers who often generate far less PPV buys. Remember 'Deontay Wilder money'? Go look up Jones' career PPV buys vs Wilder and have a laugh.

Boo hoo man. It's all known ahead of time.

But other than these completely retarded shill talking points, good post.

They get taxed to death in California that's why everyone was so pissed off at Jon Jones when that card got moved from Nevada to there.

Then why did you single out Mackenzie, who has 8 UFC wins, and not Paulo Costa who has 6 UFC wins and makes more than both?

Typically if you've fought for a title and are ranked you're going to make more money. Paulo finished a former champ in his 3rd UFC fight while Dern lost to Amanda Ribas. He's ranked slightly higher in his division than Dern, has a higher finishing rate, and has more of a following on social media. While that 3rd point isn't merit based we're talking about the business of fighting. Who is more likely to put asses in seats an eyeballs on the TV? Paulo's interviews are usually pretty funny and his shit posting on Twitter has, for better or worse, garnered more attention as well. He's the co-main event tonight. No one should be surprised he's making more than Dern tonight. The UFC gets a better ROI on him.

Here's the million dollar question; Should Paulo make more than Cejudo? No, hell no. Cejudo should be getting way more than 150k. And I'm not saying Dern doesn't deserve 200k for a fight, but for damn sure she shouldn't be making more than Cejudo as he's been #1 in on th planet in two separate divisions. Honestly, he should be getting at least double than what's been disclosed simple based on merit alone.

Bench warmers get paid more anually and just train and sit out games unless the stars/top players get injured

For sure. Practice squad guys can make a tidy sum at the end of the season. Pretty sweet deal to get paid to workout without getting mangled and fucked up every Sunday.

LOL Ian Garry is only making 55K?

That's some real "I'm the next Conor Mcgregor" type money.

$350k is impressive for Topuria, I remember Weidman and Rockhold getting aboslute chump change for their title shots. Weidman got 24k/24k for the first Silva fight.

Henry making less than Whittaker and Costa, and they say Ali is one of the best managers {<jordan}

Mackenzie Dern making more than Henry whose only getting 150k is crazy.

Marketability.

Every man on the planet wants to see Mackenzie Dern, while no one wants to see Henry Cejudo.

Volk, Ilia, CCC and Merab were the only guys who really sold this card. They're getting way underpaid lmao.

Volk's in the P4P top 3 and a massive star, how's he not touching 3-5 million base for a big fight like this?

Andrea Lee & Miranda Maverick making 70k+ each is absurd. They should each be making at least 200k. UFC fighters are literally slaves & Dana is literally Hitler.
Those two should be arrested for grand larceny. Whoever negotiated their pay deserves a promotion.
