IMO break it off with her before she breaks it off with you. Especially if there is a chance you want her back, She thinks you are safe and wants to play the field if you say I think a permanent separation is the best plan she might come crawling back to you. Otherwise if you are willing to stick around after her suggesting this she will look at you as a pushover.

after a year if you dont see a future best to go your separate ways. NO point wasting each others time.
