Costa is willing to stand there and trade with his opponent which is a win for the UFC. As for his opponent there's nothing crafty about his style or multi-dimensional where they have to train for every possibility or nuisance. Essentially you know what you were getting yourself into win or lose

It's his good looks. Studies have shown drastic signs of favoritism towards people who are easy on the eyes. Costa is a well proportioned (natty ofc), handsome man with very symmetrical features (no homo).

He comes to bang and doesn't back down in the cage so he'll always be loved by Dana for that. Those two things will keep him ranked for years, deservedly or otherwise.

And thirdly he's a funny cat and active on social media. Sells fights well.

Costa is really given bullshit opportunities despite losing pretty soundly in most of his last fights. It's odd to me, if I could be matchmaker I'd throw him in with Ikram and be done with him.
