Update Two:
An Oregon man will spend four years in federal prison for his role in conspiring to torture, mutilate and murder monkeys and record and distribute videos of the abuse for money, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon.
David Christopher Noble, 48, of Prineville, Oregon was also sentenced to three years of supervised release following his time in prison.
Court documents say Noble worked with others in Oregon and other places to send online payments overseas to fund the production of videos depicting the torture and killing of Long-Tailed Macaques.
The Attorney's Office also says he administered an online group where members would raise funds for video production, discuss video ideas and share animal abuse videos.
Noble's home was searched in February 2023, where investigators found about 50 animal abuse videos, along with several firearms and ammunition.
Prior to his arrest, in 2006, Noble was dismissed from the Air Force to serve six months in military custody after a court martial for fraud and having an unprofessional relationship.
In May 2023, a grand jury in Eugene brought an indictment that charged Noble with conspiring to engage in animal crushing, and creating and distributing animal crush videos, creating animal crush videos and illegally possessing a firearm as a dishonourably discharged person.
Noble pled guilty to the charges on the 10th of January.
"The victims in this case cannot speak for themselves, but the impact of the grotesque violence brought upon them is unmistakable," said Chief of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Eugene and Medford Branch Offices Nathan J. Lichvarcik.
"At the direction of David Noble and his co-conspirators, the producers of these animal abuse videos not only killed monkeys but did so in a way that extended their pain and suffering as long as possible. Today’s sentence should make it clear to others engaged in this heinous conduct that they will be held responsible for their crimes."
