sure it was great seeing Rose beat JJ for the belt, but how great of a feat was it really? I feel women’s mma fighters are talked up so much that every champ is a world beater and then when they lose it’s a huge shock. Ronda wasn’t that good. Holm wasn’t that good. Meisha wasn’t that good. Can it be assumed that JJ was also a victim of being overhyped?

Not discrediting Rose, just WMMA as a whole. Inb4 dubs for sexism.

Bisping wasn't that good, Cody wasn't that good?

There was shock today in every title change, you just choose to look at WMMA.

Well the "GOAT" and "Boogey Woman" just got dropped by a jab and then tapped to strikes.

If I was a mod, I would give a yellow card to anyone who started a thread using the term "WMMA" when talking about women fighting in the UFC. Or at the very least send the thread to the wasteland. Like this thread has been

It’s getting better, but you have to ignore everything Joe Rogan says about it...

115lbs is a weak division.

I have argued in the past that Joanna has never fought a great striker and she has never really fought a great wrestler.

Most of the 115lb division is filled with 'mixed martial artists'. Jacks of all trades, masters of none. Joanna was one of the few specialists, she's a striker who uses her TDD to keep the fight standing.

Joanna was overrated by her stans, by a hell of a lot. Many of them argued she has the best striking in all of MMA (lb4lb & gender4gender). But she hasn't beat any great strikers to prove it.

Are the male fighters that good? I feel male mma fighters are talked up so much that every champ is a worldbeater and then when they lose it’s a hugeshock

Funny I was saying the same thing about featherweight and Aldo.

Of course it's a joke. I honestly can't fathom how anybody takes it seriously.

lmao so true. rogan is a hype machine. rousey was a joke. but JJ was the first female fighter i took a liking too. One I felt comfortable calling a champion.

My theory:

It will be thin on talent until there's a large population of female training partners for women's mma fighters. Right now top wmma athletes are stuck with unskilled female training partners, or skilled males ones who are physically overwhelming (even at the same size, and by a wide margin), so it's hard for them to train up to face another highly skilled female competitor.

If all the top-5 women in the various divisions formed a super camp I bet we'd see much better performances overall.

It wasn't a jab.
The first knockdown was a jab dude. Rose threw a Right that was shallow, a jab that landed, then another right that missed as Boogeywoman was falling down. So the jab knocked her down.

Just remember JJ had a rough weight cut.
