And no. They could not force Ngannou to fight Jones.
When Jones first called out Ngannou, he did it under the pretext that he was paid in accordance with the super fight that it was. Understandably so.
But this created a cascade effect which propelled Ngannou and his management to initiate his own quest for big money.
That was a very difficult contract negotiation on both sides of the fence, no matter how it played out.
Even before Frank fought Gane, his team was already deeply entrenched in negotiations for a new contract with the Jones fight at the helm.
The fight was being negotiated behind the scenes and they tried to make it happen for a long time, before it finally did.
And at the end of the day, Jones signed. Ngannou didn't.
The idea of "Jones not wanting that smoke" is easily one of the most delusional takes I've seen for a while, because all he had to do was sign and the fight would've happened right then.
All of the most obvious signs point to Frank and his team being the biggest hindrance to the fight happening. Not Jones.
