Khabib is not GOAT unless he beats Ferg

imagine any other weightclass you would have two guys with a 12-0 win streak and they didnt fight each other and yet one of them claims to be the GOAT...
but tony doesnt have a 12-0 win streak.. he as a 0-1 losing streak

Yes he is.

Fight for long enough and you will have some close fights. Not that Gus was even close. It was a clear win. So was Santos. But nobody ever goes back to watch again multiple times and break down what actually happened.

He's the youngest ufc champ ever and basically fought and dominated at the highest level for a decade. That's unseen dominance. You can't just bring up a few close fights and ignore the bulk of his resume.

Khabib has a total of 3 title defences and maybe 7 total high level fighters on his resume. If that.

Thats not something you can compare to Jones or GSP and it's silly to try.

Khabib's Greatness doesn't come from the title defenses but his sheer dominance and Jones never was such a dominant force to be reckoned with but a great fighter but not a dominant freak.

By the way Khabib has more professional fights then Jones? What do you mean by fight long enough it doesn't make sense in this discussion.

Khabib is the most dominant fighter in MMA history which by default puts him in the GOAT convo

Not even GOAT contender unless he beats Ferg, Chandler and like two other good opponents besides that. His resume his too thin, especially for a guy with 29 fights.

Literally 90% of his fights have been utter domination in every way.

Jones was never a dominant force? Lol what..

Come on man. This is just some heavy recency bias.

I don't think he's in the discussion yet but he's close. Just needs a few more fights. Ultimately he just doesn't have the track record to put him there alongside fighters who dominated for much longer.

Sheer number of wins don't automatically equal GOAT status. It's the quality of the wins. How many ex UFC champions or contenders did Khabib beat out those 29 opponents

Tony's stock right isn't high enough to warrant this demand. I feel at 36 Tony is done with his prime.

Look Jones lost many rounds in his career. He lost rounds to Rashad, Machida, DC, Glover, Santos, Reyes, Gus etc etc. Imho he lost to Reyes and you can say the same with Gus but it was 50-50 but he definitely lost to Reyes where as Santos it was one hell'va close fight

Far from goat, quitting in your prime after only 3 defenses, while you have row or crazy good lightweights that are waiting in line doesn't make him goat.

He also has to rematch McGregor, how many great trilogies we had in UFC?

Imagine if Faber never gave rematch to Cruz, or Hughes never giving rematch to GSP, or Maynard never giving rematch to Edgar... not to mention Randy giving rematch to Chuck.

Weidman????? o_Oo_Oo_O

tony is 12-1 and khabib is 13-0, and between us, we both know that even if khabib beat tony, you wouldn't call him the GOAT, no need to act ...

He may not have fought him, but it sure wasn't for lack of trying.

He doesn’t have to do shit. He’s retired at the top and beat the breaks off Conor. The rematch would go the exact same. And why Conor? Dustin gave him a better fight so why not him? Why not Tibau? You see where that logic gets you? A fighter would just keep repeating the same fights for no real reason. You would then jump in and say oh but he has to fight so and so again. He don’t have to do shit. It’s proven. Deal with it.

The GOAT doesn't fail to show up to a fight because of a bad weight cut due to eating tiramisu. This would've never happened with someone like GSP.
He just fought with a broken foot... so there’s that. The salt is oozing out of you. Let me guess you love Conny?

right, unless Khabib travels back to 2018 and destroys prime and mentally healthy Fergusson, no goat status for him.
Tony's days as an elite fighter done and beating him now proves nothing.
sorry.

That’s right. Khabieber can’t be GOAT unless he defeats his #1 arch nemesis.

Ferguson’s loss to Gaethje means nothing to Khabieber and Ferg.

Mayweather could not be GOAT unless he beat Pacquiao. He knew that. That’s why he retired AFTER Pacquiao.
(Andre Berto and Mcgregor were meaningless)

Floyd knew, if I don’t beat PAC, despite PAC having a few losses prior to Floyd, he could never be GOAT. You can’t go your career without fighting your super rival.

Khabieber can’t be goat until he steps into that octagon with Ferg.

Point Blank.

Read it and weep Khabieber fans!
And shove a carrot up your anus!

Bull shit they tried to make this fight 4 times. Khabib slept the guy that beat Tony abruptly. Khabib's father and main coach died since then. Nah.. life keeps going ans back luck or stuff out of your control shouldn't be the reason to not be on the top as he clearly deserves

Exactly, why not? Nothing is proven.

Khabib's record is like if GSP quit after defeating Hughes and Serra...

Instead he went on a streak and defeated Fitch, Penn, Alves, Hardy, Koscheck, Shields, Condit, Diaz, Hendricks, Bisping.

Khabib fought 3 good guys in the UFC (whole career).. <45>

LW is stacked, a dominant champion in his prime can't just quit and call himself goat lol.

Jones represents unseen dominance.

Not Khabib.

Khabib has had maybe 7 total fights against high level competition. He has a great record but let's not get carried away.

Guys like Jones and GSP fought and dominated at the highest level for a lot longer. That's not to say Khabib couldn't reach them eventually but as of now, no.

Fair enough he isn't goat, but I think he is better than both

He has hit a higher ceiling

Manny pacquiao is greater than floyd, but not better imo

Aldo is greater than conor, but again he is not better
