Law Las Vegas Judge Dares to Withhold Leniency From former High Jumper. Justice Reform in Full Bloom.

Three-time felon was about to be sentenced before attack

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man attacked a Las Vegas judge in her courtroom Wednesday, forcing her to take cover and injuring a marshal in the process, video the 8 News Now Investigators obtained reveals.
Deobra Redden, 30, a three-time felon, was in Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus’ courtroom for sentencing on a charge of attempted battery with substantial bodily harm, records said.
Around 11 a.m. Holthus was sitting behind the bench when Redden ran up to her, jumped over the bench and attacked her, video shared with the 8 News Now Investigators showed. Several other people then fought with Redden before throwing him to the ground. An alarm also sounded for several minutes alerting others to the incident.
Before the attack, Redden’s attorney asked Holthus to sentence his client to probation. Holthus then said, “I think it’s time he get a taste of something else.”

The fire alarm at the end is icing on the cake. Not sure what he's chanting.

Edit: YT age-restricted the vid and won't let you watch here, so here's an alternative link

Edit 2: action shot

her trying to run away in slow motion...... was pure comedy

Guy sized up the room(you can see him scanning the room), saw a bunch of old and weak motherfuckers and went for it. Might want to beef up security in a fucking courtroom. That robe isn't some magical force field.

Cause now it’s banned for cops to use. Per California law I can’t even use it in a lethal force situation.

so rear naked chokes are out, but is there anything in the statutes against tombstone piledrivers? sometimes law and order is best served with a good ole fashioned spiking.

Which is the stupidest thing in this world.

Can you use an arm triangle?

the mandible claw oughtta put the perp in his place. if he still wants to fuck around then he can find out with a stinkface.

Nope. Here’s what it says

AB 1196 eliminates the use of any chokehold or carotid restraint technique by law enforcement. The bill prohibits any state or local law enforcement agency from authorizing the use of a carotid restraint or chokehold by any peace officer employed by that agency. The bill defines a chokehold as any defensive tactic or force option involving direct pressure applied to a person’s trachea. It also defines a “carotid restraint” as any restraint, hold, or another defensive tactic that applies pressure to the sides of a person’s neck in order to subdue or control that person, which involves substantial risk of restricting blood flow, and that may render the person unconscious.

That's stupid as hell. It sucks for cops there.

He'll probably be out next week to jump someone again.

Plain clothes, not cuffed. Shortly after saying he was not a bad person and always tries to do the right thing (during sentencing for assault with a baseball bat), the defendant Deobra Delone Redden launched himself over the bench in a expletive laden tirade and attacked a judge, even while being detained by court officers. How long do you think it'll be before they institute an always-cuffed protocol, or just install glass in front of the judges?

Watch until the end when it gets to the anchor. Is it the older version of this guy?!
