Meanwhile in Detroit....

This is about on par with the body parts they were finding in garbage bags at the side of the highway a few years ago.

TBF -- Detroit has cleaned up a lot and cleaned up tremendously but they've got a long way to go.

Time to buy realestate yet?

Too late,Dan Gilbert beat you to the punch.

Detroit is full of 1950s middle class areas --- that people can't seem to understand were ful of 700sqft homes --- and they are abandoned. There are some blocks with 2 residents.

In 2008/9 there were tours from Europe where buyers would come and purchase blocks of 10 houses. Many of the abandoned houses could be purchased for $500 and back taxes, with a requirements that they be repaired within 6 months to inspection pass level. Some Euro artists bought a bunch of houses and figured they might as well leave their over-priced countries and move to Detroit. Of course locals decided to torch the homes that were purchased and repaired. I think the Euros negotiated with the locals and convinced them not to burn down their houses
