Funny thing is that Brock is a tremendous athlete by most standards held on here.
Young Brock especially was a freak, add in his combine numbers.

Brock is a solid B+ athlete even by NFL standards
But he came into MMA way too late and never developed the ability to absorb strikes
It is what it is. Prime Brock who trained MMA full time would be HW champ for 10 years.
If his reported combine numbers are true he's a solid A by NFL standards. They were JJ Watt level and he's a DE while Brock was a DT (typically less athletic).
Okay sure.
But his body was wrecked by the time he got into MMA
Also way too old to develop striking and striking defense
Also had diverticulitis
If Brock started training MMA in his teens and transitioned in his early 20s he would be UFC HW champ for 10 years and basically GOAT
Brock didn't seem to have the instinct, despite his raw athleticism. That's a lot to ask from a guy that never even played college ball though. Same with MMA. Brock is a mystery as to what might have been in 2 sports had he transitioned earlier or made them his sole focus from a young age. Particularly MMA which would have been a natural transition for him post collegiate wrestling. If his reported combine numbers are true he's a solid A by NFL standards.
