Is moving to Thailand worth it to learn real Muay Thai?

A lot of MMA gyms do American kickboxing and claim it is Muay Thai by adding elbows.
From what I heard real MT doesn't have a belt system.
Some gyms also teach cardio kickboxing which isn't MT at all.

Also why do some MMA fighters who go to Thailand to learned real MT quit MMA afterwards?
Is it because they suck at MMA or the love for Muay Thai is so real they quit?

You can always stay in thailand for a few months and try it out. See if it's for you

You're paying them money to get trained. they could care less if you don't want to compete. If you're at a good camp, of course they're pushing you to the best possible.

Muay Thai has an awesome mix of beautiful tradition and ruthless badassery once you get past the cultural barriers. I think this is why they love it. Dont be surprised if you end up covered in sak yant and Buddhist charms. Its also worth noting that there are some legit MT instructors in America. Coban and Jongsanan are golden age legends and they both have gyms in America.
