Multiplatform Official Dragon's Dogma 2 Discussion

Damn dude. Wish I was high enough level to hire your pawn.
You can higher pawns that are about your level it just cost some rc depending on how much the level difference is. tho not sure if there is a cap. If on someones friend list the pawns cost 0 rc. Currently have a friend mage pawn that is currently level 42. His or her pawn has been with me the whole time. Just so often just gotta dismiss them n see if the person updated them n to see if they level up. Tho I guess no cross platform pawn sharing tho it legit says search for pawns on a different platform by pawn I'd went to gamefaqs n checked the pawn sharing thread n tried a PlayStation one didn't work. I'm guessing a bug or they just decided not to allow it and forgot to take that text out

Think I'm around level 17 or so, or was until the minotaur gored the crap outta me. I'm an Archer, main pawn is a Beastin 25/7 fighter. I like having a mage around, and tried using another fighter but she died in the 1st damn fight. Completely worthless. Had a pretty good thief kicking ass until that Bullshit (see what I did there) fight.

I'm amazed by the number of pawns that people don't give any upgrades to gear or skills to. Makes finding decent ones a bit of a pain.

i know you just have 3 pawns follow tho technical you can have 4 if you just decide to carry around a random pawn in the open world. I've done that a few times also have randomly throw them in the water. Ya some people really just focus on there main n just says fuck my pawn. Also my archer already has the master skill for that class. tho I'm a little disappointed i wanted to make her a magic archer but pawns can't do advance classes

I've had a couple battles like that with the Lizard dudes. Fucking harpies in packs are a bitch too.

Just got cracked by a minotaur trying to get back to the first city after a quest. Was doing ok and then got blindsided by some goblins as I had him on the last health bar.

This game rocks.
Is that minotaur the bastard raging against a wall who goes after female characters?

I finally got to the city after getting lost/going the wrong direction. I chose not to take the oxcart with the guy you accompany, and ran into some tough beast/boss on the way. I was a half heath at that point, so it took a few tries to beat him. Some goblins lurking around would always join in too.

I'm glad I did it as I learned how to trip up bigger enemies and climb them properly.

This game is pure crack!

I've been reading about people have major framerate issues in the capital city, on top of lots of crashing. I noticed some choppiness in the city, but it's still pretty stable, though not as smooth as out in the wild. I was getting a steady 60 FPS (locked my framerate) though I didn't have the FPS count up in the city.

I haven't crashed yet either. I hope Capcom fixes these performance issues for those people, as the game is awesome so far.

The minotaur I ran into was outside at some mining site. Had a couple lizard dudes there too.

To get into the city I had to go thr long way because the fucking escort you need to get in yeeted himself off a cliff into the brine.

Found a real cool cave that lead to a harpy nest in my adventures. It was up a cliff with a real narrow trail, and of course I had to find a way down at night.

Anyone updated their gear yet? My main pawn, Samsonov, has better gear than I do at the moment lol.

Holy shit, just read what happens if your pawn, or one you hire, has dragonplague...

I haven't played yet but read all the complaints and honestly the most enraging issue is the lack of a menu option to simply Start New Game. Why would they want to prevent someone from nuking their progress and starting from scratch.

This site is almost unusable with all these fucking ads and stuttering. Sherdog really screwed things up with the overhaul. Great job, guys.
Yeah the inability to start a new game is the most baffling decision in a game I think I've ever seen. I didn't even realize it until I saw an article this morning that they were adding the menu. Like, wtf you guys released it without the most basic function? I also read that they are selling fast travel locations as micro transactions. That's about as greasy as it gets in games.

Lol did he die, like permanently?

He gives you some letter/seal thing that grants you access, how did you get in the city without it?

I had a crazy sequence of events that surrounded him, that really made me fall in love witg this game.

I got lost when I was with him and his group, we got separated. It turned to nighttime and I was fighting some zombie ghosts or something, frantically looking for a camp fire.

Finally finding a camp site, to my horror, my camp kit was gone, turned out it had gotten destoyed from a previous attack, didn't even know that could happen.

I was really low on health and lost a pawn in another skirmish, think it died in the water. Things were getting perilous now, but one of the pawns I hired directed me to a rift stone, that was so cool.

I was able to bring in two fresh/better pawns and somehow survived the night. I wound up going all the way back to the first area you get to after that flying thing you're on gets shot.

All rested up and new camp gear, I eventually got to that gate our guide gets you through (vouches for you with some guard) just before you fight the troll and have to smash rocks to cause a flood, but I was on the wrong side of it. He just magically appeared acting like we didn't just spend two nights apart lol

This often feels like a 2007 title disguised as a shiny 2024 game, I love it so much!

"
  • Dragon's Dogma 2 players should be advised that using the "Load from Last Inn Rest" option in the main menu will automatically overwrite their only manual save.
  • Some fans have claimed to have already lost hours of progress due to this unexpected behavior.
  • The game's sole manual save slot is also constantly overwritten by autosaves."

…. You know, I like this game so far. But maybe it needs to go bake into the oven for a couple more months.

I might shelve it for a while and see if that can’t work some of this basic functionality out

Yup he was gone for good. I had no fucking clue what to do, but luckily a pawn I had knew a different (LONG) way to get there.

I actually LIKE the only one save (2 really, if you count Inn saves and Auto Saves). Makes your decisions really matter unless you want to go back a couple hours to your last Inn save.

Example: I JUST got to the town with the quest with little Timmy or whatever the fuck his name is being lost. I had had to hoof it too get to town (got stuck out in the night - fun times) and needed to rest, but while looking for the inn I got that quest. Somebody needs to tell little Timmy he's fucked. I don't successfully do rescue quests. Think I *might* be in the right area, but it's dark and I've got skeletons and ghost crawling up my ass.

Nope, you can buy a waypoint crystal or whatever they are called in the game. You don't need to pay real money for any. Plus, you can find them all over the place and even get them for quests. I've use 2, both times because I knew I wouldn't make it to the town I needed to get to (lost 2 pawns, including my main one). I have 4-5 in my inventory at the moment. You also have to have activated the marker to even use them in the town you're looking to go to.

Just people wanting an easy button.

Jesus.

That's like...inexcusable, right? LOL.

It's hard to believe all the fuck ups with this game, that was gifted a life from its die hard fans. DD shouldn't even be a "franchise", given how the original was all but forgotten the second it was released. You have this hardcore fan base that kept it going and spread the word online, and you can't even manage to give them basic shit that was figured out like 30 years ago? It's such a slap in the face.

I agree. I've played the first one and it's a great game. I don't remember so many unforced errors like this one is getting. I hope they patch it and FAST.

If you're on PC, there's a workaround for game saves.

Dragon's Dogma 2 save file location: How to back up your saved data

Dragon's Dogma 2 save file location and how to manually back up (PC only)

"To find the Dragon's Dogma 2 save file location, you need to:

  • Make your way to the Steam Install Folder. Here, find the folder that reads "UserData menu".
  • Now head to the "UserID folder." Here, you will find the "Dragon's Dogma 2 ID: 2054970" (The ID given might be different based on the user).
  • Make your way to "Remote," and you will now find the "win64_save" folder. Copy this folder as the manual backup and paste it on your PC or an external hard drive.
You can re-paste this folder back into the directory and replace all the files within it if you want to restore the save that it contains."

This, and the start a new game option need to be fixed asap.

They always seem to have useless cash grab dlc's like this, RE4 remake, and DMC 5 come to mind. I remember it ruining the Dark Arisen update, as you got the dlc items packed with the game.

The game loop is built around having to make decisions with key items. I wouldn't even want them if they were free.

Capcom gonna Capcom.

It's so weird. In some aspects this game is cutting edge and amazing and in others it's like it was made by a guy in a garage after work.

I played for like an hour or this morning. It does seem like a really good game. I’m honestly thinking that it might be best to shelve it for now. Like, if I lose hours of gameplay because of some nonsensical bug I would quit and probably never play it again. I’m not outraged by some bugs here or there but these ones are game breakers.

The most baffling of all has to be the no new game feature. I can’t think of any other game that has fucked that up before

Found out you can go to the morgue in the 1st bigger city, Valium or whatever, and resurrect NPC's. Costs 5 grand though.

I feel like finding Watch Captain Slapnuts, resurrecting him, grabbing his dumb ass, and yeeting him off a fucking cliff again.
