Puerto Rico votes for statehood. 51st state!

Should the US take Puerto Rico as the 51st State?

  • Total voters
    2
  • Poll closed .
The US can meet their CO2 reduction metrics by simply parting ties with all Puerto Ricans females and their two can of hair spray a day habits

Huh? They wait until their country is an in-debt, dead dog island to vote for this?

Didn't Puerto Rico already get to vote for US president? makes sense they would be a state.

They had no electors... Big win for Dem party who will target them hard with "you're oppressed -- you just don't know it yet" and dominate.

More electoral votes for the Democratic Party.

At most only about 5. But in reality only 2. some of electoral votes will be given to them from a few of the larger stats as the representative to population threshold is raised. They'll probably taken away from California, maybe New York, or even Michigan.

Seems a bit off to me. Why would you pull away from a potential lifeline in the US when the debt levels are through the roof?

All I see happening is the exodus happening now becoming exponentially worse as people get out before they aren't allowed by the US any more.

It has a large US expat population doesn't it? If so they'll leave a sinking ship making the economy worse.

The below excert highlights a problem, you can't only have a small portion of a taxation system and expect the system to run smoothly. You pay less and you'll always get less.
"Puerto Rico is exempt from the U.S. federal income tax, but it still pays Social Security and Medicare and local taxes and receives less federal funding than U.S. states."

Well, now Mississippi's state motto will be "Thank god for Puerto Rico".

They did the same thing a couple years back. Does not mean it will happen.

For YEARS they were to proud to be a part f the union; but now they wan't in after being ass-out?

Fuck 'em, man. They need to step their game up.

Time it with the Cali secession after Trump takes 2020, that way the flag doesn't need to be changed

It'll be the biggest shithole of a state in the US. It'll be like if Mexico became the 51st state of America.
