I received a job offer and have accepted into the field I went back to school for, now comes the part of putting in my 2 week resignation. To those that have done this, will they walk you to the door that day? I have heard at my company they have done this to a few people, but not everyone, so I am not sure what might happen when I do.

Well, hard for us to say. We don't know your employer. Best person to answer that question is you.

I've never had that happen before. But you got to have a pretty shitty employer for them to release you on the spot.

The employers i've had were nice about it and accomodating. They let me work until I started my new job.

People leave jobs all the time and dont get "walked out". So if they do it might be personal. Do they have reason to think you might steal something?

You should be able to put in two weeks notice and finish it out. It does depend on how they view you though. If you are a lazy complainer they may walk you out. If your a guy that goes in and does his job everyday you should b fine. I say that because it happened to some dude all he did was bitch and complain and the day he gave notice he was doing just that still and they escorted him out. So why in that case would they keep him around. I gave notice at the same place and finished out my two weeks no problem.

I have a creepy manager who does shit like this. Hot chick from inspection puts in her two weeks and gets to work it all no problem. Ugly older lady from inspection puts in her two weeks and he gets pissed and cuts her loose on the spot and has her walked out.

Violence is the only answer.

But like acceptable levels.

Take all your stuff home first, then take all your vacation & sick days.
Depending on how much you like your soon to be former employers, you can then quit on the spot or hand them the 2 week notice.

If you're worried, write a professional resignation letter and hand it to your boss in person. You don't have to explain why you're leaving, but as others have said offer 2 weeks notice and if accepted, work extra hard and be extra accommodating during that time frame.

Option 1) call in sick and say you have "anal glaucoma" it means that you can't see your ass coming back there to work.
Option 2)

Damn rough place. We throw parties for people that leave. Find a place like that. Hope you're moving to a place like that. I work for city in case you're wondering and even janitors get a party. Even the asshole who put huge fucking speed bumps in the parking lot where I have to do 1 MPH now.

I think if you give 2 weeks notice, and they ask you to leave immediately they still have to pay you the 2 weeks.

Don't know your situation, but don't leave the door open for them to counter...... unless you want them to. Just say you've received an offer that you're excited to accept, don't say anything about your current job or they'll start the 'what if we do xxxx......'.

Firstly, you've got nothing to lose so at least see if they're willing to give you a huge raise to keep you.

But yeah, they might ask you to have immediately- it really depends on the job.
