Raw onions on hamburger

What are smashed burgers, and Blackstone?

Smashed burgers are when you literally smash the ground beef onto a hot griddle to form the Pattie’s. This results in a seared patty on both sides. This opposed to over an open flame on the grill where the juices drip away.

A Blackstone is an outdoor propane griddle.

I don’t mind a bit of minced onion on a burger if there’s pickles or mustard to mute it/balance it out a bit. But big, fat slices of raw onions can fuck off. It’s like taking a crunchy bite of someone’s body odour. Completely overpowers the meat.

I honestly don't know how people can eat onions. They're vile especially raw.
Agreed. I'll only eat them cooked. They're best grilled and caramelized.

Carmelized onions are fucking amazing.
Raw onions are good on burgers as long as it's not too many.
I miss going to hot dog stands in Chicago and getting a dog or polish sausage with the grilled onions that they'd cook on the grease and fat coated flat top grill until they were good and caramelized.

I can eat green onions with just about anything

I usually grill my onions a little bit and I might even caramelize them sometimes. One of my favorite hamburgers was the grilled onion cheddar by mcds.
