In round 3 of Usman vs Edwards 3 at 3:38, Edwards grabs the cage to prevent Usman from taking him down. A point is taken away from Edwards, and both fighters were moved to the middle of the octagon. Should a fighter be able to choose the punishment for his opponent? Ex. Usman would be able to choose between the point being deducted, or returning to a position where the takedown is completed. Or better yet, maybe Usman could’ve chose the point being deducted AND a return to the position up against the fence.

Any other examples? Tsarukyan was able to restart in the position after Oliveira’s illegal upkick. Would a protest to also take a point away fall on deaf ears?

No.

Just apply the same rules to everyone. The ref tells the fighters in their locker room the rules. So they’ve been “warned” already. Take a point for everything. That’s the only way it’s going to get better.

Maybe they can have one of the house robots from Robot Wars enter the cage and deliver a punishment of some kind.

yeah man just have the ref throw a flag in the cage, pause the action and have the coach decide the penalty

I was sitting on this thread idea since that fight happened and this is probably the only solution to the issue.

Well they're officially merged with WWE now and USADA is gone so i think instead of a point deduction they have a number of wrestlers back stage on every card.

The fighters get to choose pre fight who they want to back them up.

Then while you're getting the 5 minute break wrestlers music comes on and he runs down the ramp into the cage to help in the fight. Becomes a 2 vs 1 match.
