1. He's a grinder. Even though he showed improved striking with Overeem, he does not have a style people will pay to see.
There were a lot of wrestlers like this in UFC. They didn't last long. He can last longer, because he's the most talented from them - but should he?
2. He lost twice to the same contender. His availability for the title shot will be no earlier than 2020. Meanwhile he'll fight for peanuts.
3. Other companies will not be too interested in him, in case his contract expires. He's not interesting in any way, besides being a HW. But he's too good for his own good - no one will want him to hold a title, and he can't be fed to someone.
4. He's still relatively young. Yes, 27 is young enough. He can continue education and move to a stable job. Even as wrestling coach.
5. He's still in good health. He wasn't even fully knocked out. Or suffered serious injuries. Good time to get out healthy.

Yes. Because NASA called and they're hurting for astrophysicists.

How does losing to a contender mean you won't get a title shot?

Jesus people are asking for a Reem title shot and he's got brutalized by multiple contenders

Yeah I agree it's probably best to get out now while he can, idk if he's always slurred his speech but something tells me sparring with other HW's leads to more accelerated brain damage. Of course he won't leave because he's a disciple of the JBG, and will continue to get brutally finished or give us brutal finishes like this

No shame in losing to Francis, Stipe was one wrong move from the same outcome.

No, he actually stated that he's not.
He said in multiple interviews that he's not going to risk his health for the fans.

Reem is getting payed 800+k per fight. Blaydes got 30ishk for Ngannou fight. He will be lucky if he breakes even after paying the costs of camp, coaches etc.

Allegedly he's not going to, but he'll be back..............they always come back:(

Reem is a fighter sherdoggers want to see. Overeem has never made any impact on the UFC's ppv sales.

This is just an awful thread. Obviously most of the entire roster should retire right now because they aren't likely to be champions or make tens of millions.

You have no clue what Blaydes got paid. China does not release fight payouts. How do you people still not know this shit?

He has an 80% finish rate (8/10 finishes) and has beaten some legends of the sport. He will be fine, you're just overreacting cuz he lost to this "diva" Ngannou. He is still very young, esp for HW, and has plenty of time to improve and build his name/resume.

I think his mistake is always trying to strike. I am sure he improved his striking while Overeem improved his takedowns. He needs to stop trying to strike.

^This is exactly why fighters should have an exit plan in mind when they realize what their ceiling is.

The sport is brutal.

Only a handful of guys make real money.

...and the fans are fucking scumbags who have no respect whatsoever for the majority of fighters who get into the cage/ring.

He’s currently only top guy under 30

Dc
Stipe
cain
Jds
Werdum
Ngannou will prolly all be retired in 3 years or so

If nobody else shows up it’s his division just by default lol

He was trying to set up the shot. Contrary to all of the nonsense that was said during the backlash after the Stipe fight, Ngannou is pretty good at stuffing the initial TD entry. He stopped most of Blaydes' shots in their first fight, he stopped Overeem from getting the TD, and he stuffed Stipe before the adrenaline dump.

Lost twice to the same guy. He wont hit the big numbers for payday. Not worth it.
