Squats and overal strength

I notice when my squats improve, my overall strength tends to improve as well. Are there any correlation with leg strength and overall strength? I remember watching a YouTube video of Pavel discussing on how improving grip and core strength helps developed overall strength.
 
Na putting a heavy load on ya back and moving it will not i say again not correlate to overall strength ghost mike over.
 
The squat is a full-body lift, with particular emphasis on hip/knee extensors, and core stabilizers. Of course it will improve overall strength.
 
Depends, and to a certain point.
