Oh man, do I love that old timey cartoon style, this looks great

This art style is incredible. It's actually called inkblot or rubber hose animation (for the notable arm/leg physics), I've learnt.

It just dawned on me that is this project now underway because of Disney's early Mickey copyright having expired 01 Jan 2024?

Because this 1928 version of Mickey is entering public domain, I remember also recently seeing a horror flick the likes of the Saw series coming out called Mickey's Mouse Trap; protag for which is exactly who you think it is: Mickey.

Yeah, although I don't think Mickey is explicitly mentioned. I think they only announced the game after the copyright expired.
