Not to be glib, but isn't this just deep half? What specifically makes Bernardo's so different than Ryan Hall's or Jeff Glover's half guard sets?

From what I've seen, Faria doesn't use the leg lever as much (at all?) as Hall and Glover. Not that it isn't still deep half, but it may be a different approach, given size differences.

Bernardo's deep half is heavily focus on the lapel control. On the DVD he actually differentiates the Faria guard vs. the traditional deep half.

It'll become clearer when we release the trailer on Monday. Or you can sign up for the new letter and check out the sample technique.

I'm really excited for this set! As far as I know, Bernardo is the only guy who plays deep half almost exclusively and is consistently placing at the worlds black belt adult level. I learned a lot from the Ryan Hall set and I've been dying to get my hands on Bernardo's DVD to see what he can add to the position. I have already incorporated a number of his techniques that I have been able to find on youtube into my game, and I have been having a lot of success. I'm really hoping that he will cover his over/under guard passing as well since it is such an important part of sweeping from deep half.

Nice, I definitely would enjoy watching him break down how he plays Deep Half. But I agree... Its still Deep Half, with lapel control. Dont mean to be a stinker, I will gladly support this DVD when it comes out but product naming/marketing I feel takes away a bit from the actual quality if the content.

Same goes for the Opt In. Give me a link I will gladly buy, I dont need or want to help build an email list.

Looks like a great product definitely will support when its out.

Used the technique from the free video sample last night on my Professor. Worked like a charm. I'll be buying this instructional for sure.

His DHG is way stronger and harder to pass than normal. I train with my buddy Squatmoar and since he's made the switch to Bernardo DHG and I've been having a way harder time passing him. Also Bernardo has a lot of different variations and unique setups which make him so difficult to deal with and it gels perfectly with his passing

Ill purchase for sure. Not a huge a DHG player but he is such a specialist that I feel that I should take the opportunity to learn something from him. And after watching his interview how could you not love and want to support the guy!

You'll find that Bernardo's Deep half is more controlling than the deep half where you huge the leg with both hands (ala Jeff Glover). From first hand experience, it is SOOO hard to move from the Faria Guard.

I totally understand your comment about the naming of the move. I go crazy when my students refer to the "lockdown" position. As a Matt Serra/Nick Serra BB, I've always referred to that position as the "Scorpion Guard" (thats what Gracie Barra called it in the mid 90's). We called this the "Faria Guard" just to that everyone can follow the same vernacular when talking about the position. Faria Guard is a lot faster to say then "Deep Half Guard with lapel control with your far arm under your opponent's leg".

I also agree with the your opt-in issue, I promise you we will only send you an email if we have something important to say. For instance we are providing those who sign up using the page a discount code on their order. For those who signed up for the newsletter in the past, we are offering them a chance to win free DVDs.

Thanks, for the support. Bernardo's "Faria Guard" is easy to execute.

I've done 2 seminars with Gordo @ Renzo's NYC school and Serra Huntington. I think this DVD will definitely expand your 1/2 guard arsenal!

Sometimes you can tell for interviews and being around people if they are playing up for the camera etc. Bernardo is such a genuine, humble and passionate person. We would love to work with Bernardo forever is we can.

I watched the interview you posted. And I'm not going to lie I was supper happy to find out his lineage is Carlson through and through. Seems like a great guy.

I just might have to get this. I've been watching more of Bernardo lately, as I've forever been using DHG to bail me out of badspots. The more I watch, the more I like.

i do end up in deep half but not really having played with it much I usually end up getting submitted or in a scramble. Anything new options are great.
