Elections Trump Indicted On 91 Counts

Yeah this doesn't make sense at all and it's clearly a delay tactic. In the ridiculous hypothetical situation that he won, and they rule presidents have absolute immunity then what stops Biden from doing whatever he wants?
I could have sworn we fought a war to get rid of kings ruling us in this country...

This is the same old playbook that has happened throughout History when the wealthy (donor) class wants to rule, they sew dissent before backing a phony populist who almost inevitably becomes an authoritarian who espouses corporatism. From there it's a matter of exploiting loopholes in administrative and legal systems, or peeling them back with regressive policies and rulings.

Getting this before the Supreme Court was a good legal move because now they either MUST install a path to dictatorship (blanket immunity) with an opposing administration in office, or rule that even their own can be held legally accountable. What most authoritarians bank on on the case of the former, is that the other guy is just nice. That they actually wont do dictator sh*t because they're not built that way. Theyll just concede to the normal mechanisms, meanwhile the "strongman" laughs at that very notion with denialism and conspiracies.

Unfortunately this is where, traditionally, liberals fail. They DO try to just be nice and take an "oh dear, can you believe they're really doing this?" stance when the political violence starts, meanwhile the actual leftists who have enough sand to fight back have been politically exiled because they were always challenging the establishment.

That old familiar poem begins "First they came for the Communists..." then follows "Then they came for the Socialists." The reason for those two being named first is because they were the ones willing to fight back, while the liberals were being polite.

It is possible Trump makes a very large payday from Truth Social. If so, credit where credit is due, it will truly be one of the great grifts of history. Just a complete transfer of wealth from a bunch of fucking rubes to Trump.

Twitter itself, according to Elon's own math, is only worth around $4 billion right now.

Trump's Truth Social, for the first 9 months of 2023, only generated $3.38 million in REVENUE. I think the Ralph's Italian Ice store down the street from me probably pulls in more haha. After deducting expenses, like Devin Nunes' $750,000 annual salary, they lost tens of millions. Trump himself, on his financial disclosure form with the Federal Election Commission, assigned the company a value of only $5 to $25 million.

MAGA morons, it should come as no surprise, since they're functionally illiterate usually, are also financially illiterate. They've bid this pile of shit up so that it has a market cap of billions.

There is no path to profitability for the company and it's inevitable that it will fail eventually; however, Trump could moonwalk away from it with a huge payday, and his cult will be left holding the bags as the company declares bankruptcy. They'll celebrate him for this too! Look at how rich he is! That means he's a great businessman!

There is a lockup period though. Once Trump gets handed ~78 million shares for doing nothing but rage posting on his toilet at 3 AM, he has to wait for a period of about half a year before he can start selling. Only then could shares be used for collateral. It is possible he could file with financial regulators to change this lockup period, but it's unclear if that could work.
Imagine paying Devin Nunes that amount of money <36>

Seal Team 6 to take out certain members of the Supreme Court. <BC1>

*sow ;)

Republicans in 2012: "Obama is a dictator! He rules by executive fiat! Get rid of executive orders!"

Republicans in 2024: "presidents should be able to do literally anything they want. And by 'presidents' I just mean my guy. Joe Biden and Democrat presidents should NOT be able to do literally anything. In fact, Joe Biden should be impeached and imprisoned for his son's penis, or something"

If they rule the president is indeed a king then Biden and the Dems should just refuse to abdicate power. They would be either stupid or complicit not to do so.

Again, though, the right believe that the Democrats would still abide by the norms in that situation when they have no intention to do so themselves.

I think there is a far greater proportion of people who just haven't thought through what they're pushing for.

At the base-level, yes. They're like that Family who moved to Russia from Canada because they hate teh gays, but then realized Russia sucks when you were used to freedom:

However on the political level, no. There is a distinct effort to normalize autocratic fascism here, a building of anti-democratic sentiment over the last 40 years that suits the wealthy class. Zappa tried to warn us:

they are gonna have to get down in the mud going forward or the republicans will just keep getting away with it, the supreme court appointments were a glaring example.

The realization that the Lawfare is failing is beginning to happen with the Left. Next comes the panic and then they will be "outraged". They will call for shit like Biden cancelling the election. Count on it 100%.

These cases are ass and everyone knows it, except the Left Cult.

I've been too busy at work to pay too much attention, but I have seen a few commentators losing their minds over the obvious Scrotus stall tactic. But didn't they consider that they would do exactly this? I think there have been a number of folks on fucking Shitdog suggesting that Scrotus would just try to freeze the ball, so surely...

A lot of them did NOT apparently, and I think it's because they naively believed that Scrotus would "do the right thing for the country" or some such, because of their belief that law should be noble.

When's the last time that Scrotus "did the right thing"? We've known for quite a while that Scrotus was deeply compromised, what's the surprise here?

What this "reveals" is that they will rule against the "absolute presidential immunity" bullshit, but because they wanted to stop the DC trial from occurring prior to the election, they are slow walking it---freeze the ball. If it's good enough for Aileen Canon in FL, it's good enough for Scotus.

What I DON'T understand is why they haven't dropped the 14th amendment decision yet, we all know from the way they attacked at oral arguments that they decided that one before oral arguments even began. It wouldn't surprise me if the majority opinion was written prior to then as well... so why the delay? It's not like they are worried about being consistent "textualists, or literalists" , and they clearly do not feel shame.... Thomas and Alito for sure, but they aren't alone in their fealty to the dark side.

Get on with it already ya gowned goofs.

You ARE aware that there are offences in the criminal books that do NOT involve drugs/murder, yes?
You are aware that there are penalties for breaking those laws, yes?

Nobody (well, no rational human) is going to call for the "cancelling of the election". Give your balls a tug.

Yep, Canon and Scotus are slow walking this shit because the cases are such trash, NOT because they know Trump is 100% guilty and going to jail.
Like use your head for more than a hat rack.

You're talking out of your ass... all I had to do is scroll up the thread just a bit and....

So Biden should just cancel the 2024 elections citing threat to democracy and justify it by using the Trump excuse that he should have absolute immunity.

Game. Set. Match.

Thanks for playing.
