Elections Trump wants a billion dollars from oil for election. Promises them an easy time if elected .

Lol.

The climate change scam is corruption too, doofus
You think it's more likely that all climate scientists are pulling some kind of scam for no benefit and they're just being opposed by a small group of billionaires who just coincidentally happen to benefit from it. Sounds plausible.

You do stuff rich people like, they give you money to finance your campaign so you can get elected again. It's simple.
Studies showing it doesn't work like that just use absurd exaggerations.
Example, a candidate with billions on hand may receive hundreds of millions from big oil and not help them.
Or show how the candidate with the most money doesn't always win.

The main point remains, you need a considerable sum to win a major election and you need to do stuff rich people like. It's not like a direct bribe where you do exactly what the person paying you wants but it's still something to think about.
Doesn't even work like that. The GOP as an institution is already devoted to doing stuff rich people like. If you're a rich person who wants them to do more of it, you just try to help however you can (and it's not just that the candidate that spends the most doesn't always win; they're no correlation at all between spending and winning after you adjust for the fact that the more popular candidate will tend to do better with fundraising).

I think there's a deep need for some people to convince themselves that they're powerless and that dark forces are in control of everything.

lol at saying the quiet part out loud

All modern day politicians funnel money from corporations and lobbyists in exchange for influence.
- Thats is whats makes him so fun!

The thread illustrates why crooks love cynicism. Cynics act like they are the enemies of corruption, but by falsely accusing everyone of corruption, what you really do is communicate that real examples of it are no big deal.

No. I think governments passing a bullshit tax and giving massive grants and incentives to their friends to produce 'alternative energy' is a scam.

Dumbass.

I was told on here that the president doesn't effect oil and gas prices and there is nothing Trump could do to lower them that Biden isn't already doing.

But he said that he would drain the swamp . This is what a major pitch of his was as well as a major appeal. Why would he backtrack on this ?

What's your theory of how presidents affect gas prices and how it's relevant to Trump asking to be bribed?
It would be the exact same as your theory on how it's a "bribe". If the president has no impact on expenses and regulations for oil, then he doesn't have anything to "bribe" with.

Trump is telling the industry that if they give him a billion dollars, he'll give them favorable legislation.

Um, yes he does. He can give the industry favorable legislation. That doesn't mean gas prices are affected. WTF?

And what's your theory about how U.S. presidents affect gas prices?

The non-hack thinking here is that gas prices are set by supply and demand on international markets. There was a pandemic, which caused demand to crater (to the point where oil prices actually went into negative territory). That price decline caused a supply crunch, and then when economies came back from recessions (multiple countries), supply wasn't sufficient, and so prices rose, which then led to supply increases and a leveling off. This is how markets work generally. Prices send signals to suppliers, who adjust their behavior accordingly.

Favorable or unfavorable legislation does affect gas prices? Lol. You're thinking they'll just eat additional expenses and not increase prices, and it's just more of Biden's bad luck that his "unfavorable legislation" happened to coincide with a massive price increase?

Biden himself certainly seems to think the president affects gas prices when he shattered the record for releasing oil from the strategic reserves in an effort to lower prices in the weeks leading up to the midterms.

That was pretty accurate and succinct.

The problem is, the people you're saying that to don't care. Anything bad that can be blamed on a political enemy will be, and any good will be ignored.
