How does the fight go?

It was highly satisfying to see Ngannou move like an MMA pro in the clinch with the bigger man. That was a big statement for me.

Depends who the current champs are. Yes, probably more likely to happen at HW but no reason why this style matchup couldn’t occur at a lighter weight class. I could see lots of MMA guys getting it done in 3 or 4. I think watching this weekend demonstrates that styles can make fights in boxing too.

Like which guys in MMA would you favor over any of the top guys in their respective divisions in boxing? Give us some examples, because i'm gonna say, yeaaaah no.

Francis wasn’t the aggressor and he never rocked fury but once.

I actually don't know shit about boxing rules. Do they really count the number of punches landed and if there was no knockdown the fighter who landed more automatically gets the nod for that round? That sounds kind of odd.
Power punches do matter of course, but in most rounds of this fight they were even or very close except rd 3, that was fully Ngannous round and a 10-8 as Fury was never winning that round at any point. Basically its simple pretty much anything other than a jab is a power punch and the rounds where power punches were even or close Fury landed more overall and that's why he won and its actually crazy that one judge gave it to Francis based on the scoring system but I guess round 2 could have been seen differently by that judge.

I felt Francis took 4 of the rounds, but his output was only pretty much only power punches and that cost him all of the other rounds.

Boxing did itself no favors from roughly 05/06 onwards. I used to buy Ring Magazine and watch Friday night fights a lot… eh, but boxing became (and still is) very fragmented. Pacman/Mayweather should have happened 3 years earlier. Why? Lots of lawyers, belt organizations….

Even today, Fury is the consensus top HW, yet he only has one belt, WBC belt, I believe. Another big one is casual boxing fans still look at records when they don’t mean as much as they should, so lots of careful match-making to keep records sterling, preserving fighters without a loss. So many historically great boxers have losses, because they fought tough competition regularly. Not as much, anymore. It’s changing a bit, but still…

Did fury even take the fight serious. He wanted to take zero damage knowing he has a huge fight in a month. Fury got off the couch and still beat the scariest power puncher in combat sports

These are satire posts right?

There's contradictions everywhere

I wonder whos alt this is?

No matter how you slice it, it was a dog shit performance for Fury and a much better than expected performance from Francis. Absolutely undeniable - huge stock up for Francis and I hope he continues to make generational money off of the hard work he puts in.

Who knew shoveling sand in a sand mine and having ford escorts in your hand makes you beat the World boxing champ

While Francis doesnt even have a scratch

Reminds me of GSP after he "won" the fight vs Hendricks... I guess Francis does hit like a Ford Escort after all

Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed hearing Francis talk through the fight logistically and emotionally. Respect. Props to Fury for saying he was prepared, and Francis did well.

TS is correct. Zero chance a world champ gets decisioned an mma guy, south of HW. Though this shouldn't even happen at HW.

Props to Francis; he proved he can hang with a top boxer. But Fury disgraced his entire sport. I can't imagine the Koitchko's, Lennox, Holyfield, etc, ever looking that weak against an 0-0 mma guy. This would be like Wilder decisioning prime Overrem in mma.

"When the fight started and we touched gloves, Fury said "Let me take you to school."

When I knock him down, I started dancing and I said:" You're not taking me to school mfer. You're a bad professor. How is that school going? Who is taking who to school? Because for me it's like I'm the one taking you to school.""

Turns out It was just friendly banter during a tough fight.

na… your extreme hyperbole immediately hampers your credibility off the bat, but Fury did not perform wildly out of character or out of shape. He looked like himself very much. His punches were sharp. His movement was quick. and his stamina held up for 10 no problem. the only time he looked depleted was in the round where Francis was looking to finish him, he absorbed a lot of shots and was hanging on creating clinches to stave it off. Could Fury perform better, for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if Francis were not able to replicate the quality of this performance against Fury in a rematch, but that doesn't matter at all to me. This fight happened. This is the result and it is no less real.

Not looking for any excuses for Fury, Ngannou clearly delivered better than expected, but in no way did Fury look like his normal self. He had most definitely lost a substantial step that night, both in movement and reactions. I wouldn’t be surprised if he retires.
