U2's Joshua Tree voted the best album of the 1980s according to BBC

I thought War was a substantially better U2 album.

Its a very good album.
The best songs on there are the ones not on the radio.

Kinda like Brothers In Arms that way.

Seems to be a very england taste/rock based list, for them it is.

1) U2 The Joshua Tree
2) Dire Straits Brothers In Arms
3) The Stone Roses The Stone Roses
4) Michael Jackson Thriller
5) Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction
6) The Human League Dare
7) The Smiths The Queen Is Dead
8) Paul Simon Graceland
9) ABC Lexicon Of Love
10) Prince Purple Rain

I had it on repeat when I was in Joshua Tree. I adore everything before and including Rattle and Hum. With the exception of How to Dismantle.

as a kid I was OBSESSED with them. This is nice. Husband bought me Boy and the best of for the car the other day. And Joshua Tree, Unforgettable Fire on vinyl.

Van Halen was put to rest itt...

It’s up there.
I’m not even sure how that would be defined honestly... subjective numbers/votes by critics/producers/musicians.

Prolly my favorite 80s album is Kick.

Here’s a good remix heard recently.

Joshua Tree is a perfect album. Thriller is also a perfect album. Two different styles of music and very difficult to choose which is the best. It's all matter of taste.

Although U2 were bigger in the US at the time than they were in the UK, the Joshua Tree especially is there big Americana album along with Rattle and Hum.

I'm a bit surprised Brothers in Arms is still that popular, obviously it was a massive seller at the time (I probably listed to the tape in my dads car about a 100 times) but its not exactly fashionable anymore and Dire Straights haven't really had an 80's nostalgia revivial.

Ehhh, U2 made great songs/singles, but average albums.
Thriller
Hounds of Love
Remain in Light
Doolittle
Tabula Rasa
Ride The Lightning
Purple Rain
Stone Roses

All better than fookin' Joshua Tree

I LOVE Joshua Tree, but Unforgettable Fire is really where my heart is.
