  • The New England Journal of Medicine on April 27 published an article by seven Bay Area academics calling for medical students to be segregated by race
  • The authors argue that it will allow black students to express themselves without having 'to care for the egos of White people' and worry about 'White fragility'
  • A petition has begun demanding the journal apologize for the 'morally abhorrent' suggestion, which critics argue is against federal law

The New England Journal of Medicine has been strongly criticized for publishing an academic paper calling for medical students to be taught in racially-segregated groups, with the idea condemned as 'morally abhorrent'.

The article, written by seven academics, doctors and students at the University of California, San Francisco, was published by the esteemed journal on April 27.

Congrates Progressives.... When I think the retards running Universities can't get any worse. Full circle.. yeah, You're now full blown racist.

They still manage to sink to new lows. How is this hugely not insulting to anyone not white? It's the like they are insinuating that minority students are too stupid and emotionally stunted that they can't handle the rigorous classes required for Med School..

News flash assholes - They're rigorous for a reason. These aren't Gender Studies classes with zero impact on the real world. There's actual people's lives at stake with these future doctors who need to make critical and stressful decisions, sometimes under intense pressure.

These are same kinds of dipshits pushing kids through Grade School, whether they've learned the curriculum or not... due to systematic racism. You don't do these kids any favors with these policies.

Believe it or not, kids can and will rise to the occasion with the proper motivation. There will ALWAYS be some who won't. There's plenty of jobs for both.

Con't
The paper was immediately seized upon by Dr Stanley Goldfarb, who runs the Do No Harm activist group - set up to 'protect healthcare from a radical, divisive, and discriminatory ideology.'

Goldfarb has launched a petition, calling on the Journal to 'apologize for running such an illiberal and extremist article'.

Goldfarb writes: 'It is difficult to understand how such offensive language made it past the gatekeepers of this prestigious institution.

'In these same pages, authors and editors have been covering the unprecedented exodus of physicians and other staff leaving the clinical profession due to demoralization, burnout, and toxic work environments.

'Have you considered the possibility that divisive and highly politicized pieces such as this might be worsening this crisis, in addition to moving medical education toward segregation?'
Damn, at least one time when I click on one of these outrage porn news item threads can it be as advertised? Do you ever realize you are reading a daily mail article and stop to wonder what they aren't telling you?You took the time to cut and paste the story about "segregating medical education", when really this is what the authors of this opinion piece are talking about:

At the University of California, San Francisco, our School of Medicine and graduate medical education programs have implemented various antiracist curricula for students, residents, and fellows and have piloted use of RAGCs as part of these curricula. These RAGCs have been used as optional spaces for students and trainees to debrief about current events (e.g., the murder of George Floyd and a rapid increase in national anti-Asian hate crimes in 2020)

Theyve done a few optional sessions where people can shoot the shit about current events. Sure, something about the exclusionary nature of them isn't right esp. considering the sessions are endorsed by the school, but it doesn't deserve a thread, and it isn't 'the NEJM saying med school should be segregated' as promised.

They are just the ones that stand out. Just like stupid shit like this divisive and insulting idea is not representative of anyone but the idiot that wrote and proposed it. The danger is when woke leftists support anything that is woke or leftists, instead of questioning the stupidity.
I think there is close to equal danger among conservatives that don't look into tabloid clickbait and don't bother reflecting long enough to realise what you point out, that stories like this are from fringe on the left (when they aren't entirely bullshit) and not the will of half the country. This pattern can end up in pointless moral panics.
