Volk aquitted himself very well even in defeat, but I can't help but feel a touch underwhelmed by Islam. I feel that Khabib had far superior cage wrestling, which seemed to be in favor of Volk's strategy -- sprint to the cage in any grappling exchanges to scrape Islam off and stand up, and it worked very well.

I agree. If, for example, Moreno goes to LW and loses, that doesn't mean he is p4p worse than that LW. The whole concept of p4p revolves around that. If someone from a lighter weightclass fights to an almost draw with someone from a higher weightclass, the lower one is p4p better.
