News UFC implementing new APEX ticket policy to be more "family friendly" atmosphere, begins this weekend

For a second I thought they were going pg after reading the thread title

Lol apparently the families only get to stay for their relative's fight and then they have to leave as soon as it's over, that's weak. <lmao>

Askren's family attending the Masvidal fight & getting immediately escorted out if it happened in the Apex:

Situation improved by 7.3% I guess.

What I love about the Apex is the ability the hear strikes landing better. However, Pride was way better even with huge audiences. Why is that? I think I read that they had mics placed near the ring. Is this the case? Big crowds doesn't matter for me when im watching at home, so I think cards at thr Apex has it's charm if used correctly.
pretty sure pride had mics everywhere, they also added some reverb to add to the effect IMO

they need to strip down the APEX, remove the unnecessary ESPN like broadcast backgrounds, throw some bleachers in, and get the troops in there watching. they're literally fighting in an ESPN broadcast set, empty, shit makes no sense. cut all that crap out, strip it down, bleachers, troops.

It used to have small crowds, not sure what happened to that, people will still pay good money to attend those shit cards.
Yep those early Spike TV cards had small crowds which where fun. In Vegas they would do either the hard rock casino or cox pavillion. Hard rock was round 1000 in attendance and Cox Pavillion was around 3k in attendance.

First video 1 minute in they show hard rock casino and 3 minutes into the 2nd video they show the setup for the Cox Pavillion. Those early TV cards a blast to watch

To think that in future when we look back through MMA history there will be a period of 4+ years where like half of the UFCs cards took place in a tiny almost completely silent arena with a dozen people in there. Pretty shitty imo.

It is perfectly fitting that this place is named after a shitty defunct department store

Same here. Crowds generally suck. I get cheering for the brawls. But they boo some entertaining stuff. And hearing those strikes landing is something different. I love that and hearing them talk shit.

It's probably because nobody is buying those tickets. I remember looking at them a while back. It was like at least 1000?

My problem with the apex is the shit level of fights.

I love the silent arena, Gaethje vs Ferguson was amazing.

You can hear the strikes, slams sound impactful, you can overhear the coaches.

No drunken USA chants or boos during awesome groundwork.

Reminds me of training and Competing.

Nothing beats Rashad’s wife. I hear she is still screaming at chucks lifeless body
One hundo p, my friend. That woman... I don't usually wish ill on anyone I don't know, but she was the worst MMA wife bar none and used to ruin events with her shrieking (for me). So incredibly loud, never shut up; I pity poor Rashad having to live with that, cuz you know she didn't just turn that off when she left the arena and transform into a normal person.

The worst athlete's wife period that I can think of off the top of my head would be Carl Froch's though. Absolutely gorgeous with the ugliest British accent in the world and one of the most piercing voices I've ever heard. Watch his fight with Arthur Abraham and be amazed at how clearly her voice rings through cussing Arthur out as being, "FOOKIN' USELES, CAHL!" for 36 minutes or so. It almost seemed like they had a boom mic directly over her head for the contest, but nope that's just how she talks.
