UFC made GOAT poll. GSP isn't on it.

Depends on the criteria.

Who had the biggest fights and most memorable moments in UFC?

McGregor.

Who has the biggest impact on the sport?

McGregor.

Who had the greatest peak moments in toppling champions?

McGregor over Aldo is the defining peak moment of all careers in UFC.

First ever double champ.
Brought the sport out of the dark ages.
Made the world recognize MMA.

All Conor, he is definitely arguably the GOAT.
UFC already discussed these criteria on their 30 greatest all time list.

Popularity belongs in the GOAT conversation and McGregor is the most popular bar none. Not even a close second.

People can dispute who has the best fighting skills betwe. Jones, Silva and Fedor, but no one can dispute Mcgregor’s impact as the most impactful.
First ever double champ?
Ever heard of bj or randy?
If you are talking same time Conor went 1-1 with Diaz inbetween title fights.
GSP, Jones, AS, MM are the top in my opinion. Making money and getting a bunch of casuals to pay attention doesnt change your resume of fights.

McGregor is still being called out by champions across multiple weight divisions and it’s been a long time since he stepped foot in the octagon.

His catch phases and gimmicks have been imitated by many in the industry and

It’s 2024 and the champions in the UFC is still gunning for a McGregor fight. It is arguably the only fight more sought after than a championship belt.

His catch phases and gimmicks are widely imitated by fighters in the industry today. He is the reason two-division titles are a major thing in the sport.

He is the reason that Francis fought Fury. He is the reason Anderson Silva boxed Jake Paul.

Did Avatar create an era of film making constantly being paid homage by other movies?

McGregor if anything is closer to the superhero franchise in movies, the entire franchise.

That doesn't make sense. Fury and Ngannou only happened because Ngannou left the UFC. He did not pave the way for that at all.

UFC fighters have always tried to fight other people outside the UFC and were never allowed except for McGregor. He did not change that because people still cannot fight guys outside of the UFC. If Mcgregor never happened, there would still be demand to see the UFC heavyweight champion box the boxing champion. Do you really think no one would want to see Wilder knockout Brock Lesnar?

The two title thing isn't important because of McGregor...it's because the gap in weight classes are substantial in MMA and so no one really tried to become champ champ except for BJ Penn (and when he tried, it was the biggest fight in the UFC up to that point). If anything it means less now than when McGregor did it...actually that's not even hypothetical, becoming champ-champ isn't nearly as prestigious as it was 10 years ago.

Avatar affected the movie industry more than McGregor did MMA. It made every movie theater start housing for 3D movies for several years, and to this day movie theaters still have 3D. No one would still say Avatar is the most influential movie of all time.

Connor McGregor didn't raise fighter pay....their pay is still the same.

McGregor is called out because he is the biggest name and an easy win. That has nothing to do with being influential though. People were calling out Nate Diaz too, does that mean he is better than Shavkat who no one calls out?

Biggest draw does not mean goat. Derek Jeter iisn't the GOAT of baseball, or even close. Kobe Bryant globally drew more money than every player, including Jordan - he is not the GOAT or even that close to it.

Biggest draw isn't the greatest of all time. Doesn't make any sense. No one would say Dwayne Johnson is a better or more influential actor than Marlon Brando. Just because you like McGregor a lot doesn't mean he is the best at his sport. He was a great fighter who became a media creation.... not even close to one of the goats. He wasn't good enough.

And if you went by influence....still not close to one of the goats. He is not more influential to MMA than Royce Gracie for example, I'm not even sure how that would make sense.

The most popular fighter in MMA right now is nothing like Connor McGregor. So no, not everyone copies his antics. Alex Peireira is the polar opposite of McGregor and just headlined the biggest card of the year.

Saying McGregor is the GOAT is like saying Brock Lesnar is top ten all time, basically. He is the GOAT draw, nothing close to the GOAT fighter. He is the Derek Jeter or David Beckham of MMA.

For actual fighting Conor isn't even top 25. But in terms of big picture Conor deserves the recognition as he helped make MMA as big as it gotten and it started beating Boxing when Conor rose to fame.

As for goat actual fighter

Fedor, Bones,Andy,GSP, Khabib. That's only choices.

Incredible how you can get the top 4 right and then add one name who isn't even top 50.

You're saying Khabib isn't top 50 let alone top 5 huh? <{hfved}>

He has like 3 or 4 top 5 wins in his entire career, how does that get you onto a GOAT list?

No top 50's a bit of an exaggeration but he's nowhere close to the top 10 with that resume.

Imagine GSP retiring after the Serra rematch, that's basically Khabib. A GSP-like career with like 7-8 less title defences and one title less. They're not even in the same stratosphere.

This is why the UFC is and will remain a niche sport

Neither BJ not Randy was champ in 2 divisions at the same time. They won and lost their belts and gunned for another.

Conor lead the legacy for champ champ fights.
Cormier, Nunes, and Cejudo followed suit.

Most GOAT polls include Fedor, Jones, Anderson, GSP, & maybe Aldo/MM (I'm not saying that's my GOAT list, I'm saying most have it like that). I could understand not including Fedor since this is the UFC, but not having Anderson, GSP, Aldo & MM but instead including Conor is LOL. Even Khabib, whom I do think is the LW GOAT, most people do not have him as top 5 overall GOAT due to lack of title defenses

Because they hate talking about how a fighter from the past is actually the goat

They call Stipe the goat when it’s Fedor

They call Volk the goat when it’s Aldo even though Volk was close

They call Izzy the goat when it’s clearly Silva

And Dana says Usman is the goat even though it’s clearly GSP

Dana can’t stand the fact that GSP took time off instead of rematching Hendricks

He hates the fact that he made GSP sign on a contract back in 2017 that ran to 2022 as a gotcha moment and GSP retired and never fought on the contract

Dana still on his period because GSP walked away with money, his winning streak and his legacy as a P4P Goat intact

Real fans now the real P4P Goats

Maybe they should have said " who makes us the most money"? Because that fighter is actually the greatest.
