UFN 158 PBP/Discussion

Prefer Kona bud and I'm too modest for a yacht but it will cover IVF so that's good shit.
Awesome

Good luck

Bout to start trying for a kid next week in maui myself

LOL! Michel Pereira vs Tristan Connelly get fight of the night bonus. Pereira gets nothing because he missed weight by 1 pound! Connelly gets 100,000!!!!!! I love it! The backflipping moron gets ZERO!

Talking with a friend about if this fight was fixed?
Anything is possible. But I really don't think this was. Pereira is a dumb ass. He fought like a total jackass in previous fights too.

Naw just the classic underestimate your opponent and be a stupid asshole while doing it shit. One guy came to fight and one guy came to become famous.

connelly is 3 sizes smaller and probably a much worse fighter, i dont see how perreira ever loses this.
I was watching the fight and I thought to myself that this guy prolly saw the crazy underdog odds for his opponent and bet shit ton of money against himself. I don't think it's that far fetched with the brazilians. But Perreira is a shit fighter even if he doesn't clown around. I think that Khandozhko guy would murder him if he would fought him like this...

Never watched much tape before this fight. Looked to me like Michel came to show off and didn't respect Connelly.

Pereira just has a style that relies on his opponents freezing and waiting until he lands a big shot (similar to Johnny Walker). Connelly didn't freeze and actually took the fight to him so won. Pereira fighting inefficiently af and getting pressured gassed him too.

I mean for these low level guys getting paid 3k to show and 3k to win that probably actually is a viable option.

Connerly deserved every dollar of that bonus

If i told you Shoeface would have over 10 minutes of control in a decision you cant possibly tell you wouldve thot Hall gets the decision

Good call on ur part lad but shit judging

Tell me*
Control doesn't factor as heavily as offense. Shoeface is a one trick pony. Hall showed what happens when you put a specialist against a well rounded game. Call it close if you want Uriah gave out a free nose job and almost had a finish in R2. Beware these hype trains fellows some of these gate keepers earned their mantel.

Shoeface's control was mostly him resting on Hall's back and doing nothing, whereas every Hall strike was extremely damaging.

It's all a matter of whether you want to value harmless control or damaging striking more. Personally I felt Hall deserved to win

It was a bit of a delayed reaction but judges have evolved to score fights based on the new rules. Control means jack shit compared to damage.

He doubled the amount of head strikes and did about 90% of the actual damage. Even if you count those little rabbit punches in the clinch ACJ was surviving more than anything. Hope you watched the fight and didn't just look at the cards. The brazilians offense is limited at best and I'm glad the judges didn't seem keen on any of that lay and pray "control" here or the rest of the card. Skelly at least earned his win with the help of Griffin's piss poor decisions making

Agreed he showed a smart game plan and stifled all of Shoeface's offense

As a MMA fan, and not a bettor, I'm glad Hall got the win over ACJ.

Advantageous position is supposed to facilitate threatening submissions and/or landing damaging strikes, and NOT a pure goal in and of itself. (And in the early years of MMA, which I prefer in some ways, that's how it was scored) I think MMA is much better when you realize that, and rate the actual end goal (damage, quality submission attempts) as more important than the MEANS to that end.

(Also, quite a bit of ACJ's "control" was simply pushing Hall up against the cage, which I don't even view as a particularly advantageous position to begin with)

Furthermore, I like it when MMA is closer to a true one on one street fight and not a meta-heavy sport where fighters use tactics solely because of the referees, judges, dozens of rules, etc. And thus, I again prefer it scored in a manner rewarding the fighter inflicting more damage and coming closer to incapacitating his opponent.
