judges should have to justify a 10-8, because of how profoundly it affects the final score. once a 10-8 is awarded against a fighter, in a 5-round fight, that fighter must win every remaining round to get the victory on that judge's scorecard. in a 3-round fight, it means victory is impossible. if the margin for error is going to tightened like that, it there ought to be a very good reason for it.

i understand the spirit of the recent rule change is to reward damage and powerful strikes, but if someone is tagging their opponent for 4 out 5 minutes, one knockdown shouldn't reverse all that. frankly, i prefer the old rule—"overwhelming domination" is much easier for everyone to agree on.
