Elections Virginia man with fake ID, guns and 500 arounds of ammo arrested an wonders why he was arrested?

A case of what kind of ammunition, and how many rounds in a case? What year was this? Give me some details and we can determine how much money you are talking about spending.

500 rounds of 9mm can easily run you over $300 right now. Go to your local range and see how many people are blowing through $300 of 9mm that day.

i mean, i mentioned m855 and m193. the 7.62x39 was generally wolf shit, but preferably anything that wasn't lacquered. .308 was either nato (7.62 technically) or match. those were just the common rifle cals, not even getting into creedmoors and etc. ffs.

asking how many rounds are in a case? really? 1k is the standard for anything not comblok. years? 90s-now.

ffs, a buddy and i just blew about $500 test firing new .357 sig loads last month at a shitty indoor range i don't even like... lolz @ some $300 shit as if that was ever really a lot of money for shooting. shooting has always been an expensive hobby.

Huh? Its a regular city dude. not like NY city or one of the boroughs but pretty close to like one of the 5 boroughs. Just not that many projects or high rise buildings. I like it there more than Brooklyn to be honest since it is quieter.

*sigh*

If you shot once a week, and you’re shooting $500 worth of ammo, that would be $26,000 in ammo a year. That’s would be a bit more than an expensive hobby.

If you blow through $500 shooting your 357, more power to you. Have fun. But that’s not typical of anybody I’ve ever known.

The guy looks like a douchebag security guard with an overinflated sense of self.
So, I think its possible he didnt intend to harm anyone but on returning to work made the mistake of thinking he was on par with the secret service and probably bragging to people that he was allowed to keep his weapons on him cause he had high level security clearance. Dude probably flashes his badge thinking he would get a friendly nod and instead gets pulled out of the car and arrested

i generally didn't shoot once/week. more like 2x/month in summer, 1xmo in spring/fall, and sparingly in the winter. but if we're going to grab the gear, we might as well make a day of it.

and shit. i didn't even mention underwood til now.

Maybe not, but there aren't a million gun ranges in the US for no reason. Just reading your exchanges, you seem like someone who has a gun for it's ultimate purpose, and aren't a hobbyist.

youre probably too old you forgot what it feels like to be in love.... Boomer.

Bud...damn. I am a bit older, in my 40's. I read that thread just now. And while it was entertaining, you are not talking about love. I am in love with my wife. I was not "in love" with chicks I hooked up with in my 20's.

It's fine if you want to bang some chick on Tinder but FFS don't say you're in love. You will be even more broke than you are now.

I am trying to help you, I promise.

500 rounds is enough arms to start a war? That's an afternoon of plinking.

^^^ I was going to say that. Only someone not familiar with guns would think 500 rounds is a big deal.

I always laugh at the news stories about some guy getting busted, and they also found out that he had an "arsenal". Having a pistol or two, a shotgun, an AR-15 or AK47, and a long range 30-06 is not an "arsenal". That's a well thought inventory for any need.

That’s mostly accurate. But I have a collection of guns, and try to shoot them each regularly enough that they don’t sit for extended periods of time. I’m somebody who grew up shooting, not somebody who discovered it recently, so maybe that puts me in a different category than some. New shooters seem to blow through ammo just out of excitement, until they realize how much money they are spending.

I shoot with some people who are true enthusiasts, and unless they are reloading their own ammo, they are not blowing through 500 rounds of ammo at the range on an average trip. That’s not to say it doesn’t happen, especially if people rarely go and “make a day” of it with friends. But if you go to the range, not very many people are dropping that amount of money punching holes in targets. That would become outrageously expensive very quickly for anybody who shoots fairly often.

Unless this guy had a 10/22 in his vehicle, I doubt he was going plinking with 500 rounds. Look up some common ammo prices (9mm, .223,etc) and then tell me if you think 500 rounds is an average afternoon plinking.

Not accusing him of anything, but let’s also not pretend that this is a normal and appropriate thing to do. There’s a reason he’s in some trouble here.

Ammo prices are way up. That being said, if I went out with my family/friends with only 500 rounds they would look at me like I was some stupid ass Leftists that didn't know dick about guns. Then they would remember it was me, and ask where I was hiding the rest.

Hey look I can be a conspiracy retard as long as the mainstream media tells me ok !

give it a rest, you can be better than this

Riddle me this (and I'm a military retiree mind you)...

Why would you have 500 rounds of ammo, gun, a fake I.D., and try to go through control points at the U.S. Capitol during preparations for a presidential inauguration?

He got lost?

I'm just sayin' that looks kinda....

The thing that makes me believe it, are the folks who have similar habits with casinos. Credit cards can facilitate a very expensive habit. You don't always have to be able to afford it. Being 50-100 grand in debt ain't no thing for some folks.

Yeah I’m a conspiracy theorist by nature, it’s a super dumb theory you got there, he works security in DC has a security license in Virginia and has been working security there all week, he’s from the country so his truck is full of redneck shit lol

please stop being dumb bro what’s even the point

.... forgot to remove his firearm from his truck before leaving for work... sounds like someone who shouldn’t be working security detail

So...

What's the name on your fake I.D. that you use to go through government checkpoints?

As I pointed out earlier, real enthusiasts buy cheap and stack deep. They aren't caught ass out and having to buy when prices peak. You mentioned replacement costs. Great. But you don't replace at inflated costs. You carry enough inventory to get you through until prices trend back down to normal. The cost of 9mm today doesn't mean I'm spending more than the $0.26 I paid at the time for that which I'll be shooting with.

That’s true, and once you get going you can easily go through way more than you initially intended. It is like being at a casino, that’s a good comparison.

@Cubo de Sangre made a comment that made me laugh. He said he would bring 500+ rounds just to make sure he has enough. I take the opposite approach, I bring 200 or less just to make sure I don’t get too carried away. I’d rather go, “Well, looks like I’ve done enough damage, and I’m out of rounds.” It’s like setting a limit for yourself at the casino.

If you were going to kill the President and only brought 500rnds, I would laugh at you.
