Was Rani Yahya an unfair first opponent for Matthew Lopez??

Lopez showed he belonged in there, did very well until he gassed, if he gets his cardio in check he could be a real force.
His striking looked great in the first round. He's definitely got some natural physical gifts to build on.

If you can't beat yahya do you really belong in the ufc
Statement is way to harsh.

Rani was extremely beaten up coming into the UFC (Hundreds of BJJ matches, 4 major surgeries, over 20 pro MMA bouts) and yet he still has a 7-2 record in the promotion

He's not the standard for what defines being in the UFC (he's a step above it if not two)

He looked good then he gassed. And yes the experience played a factor.
