What does Tim Sylvia and Tyson Fury have in common?

Fury is NOTHING like Timmy and that fight with Mercer was meaningless; using it as any kind of example of boxers in MMA also is missing the train in a big way.

Timmy was fat and finished as a fighter at that time, and never had the kind of grappling an MMA fighter needs to beat a boxer.

Father time is an unconquerable opponent.

Same size and build.

Obvious difference in your comparison is Sylvia got knocked out, while Fury got sat down and was back up on a 3 count and continued a pretty uneventful fight after that.

pretty sure prime big tim out grappled Jeff Monson

Hate that mercer fight because boxing fans always use it as "evidence" that boxing > mma.

THANKS TIM
I'd argue this loss they took is MUCH worse. That "fight" lasted 6 seconds. Everyone can win in MMA under the right conditions. We always say that. That's why the odds foro fights are always much closer than in boxing. If the fight had gone longer, Timmeh may have felt threatened by Mercer and just stayed outside using kicks or even wrestling him. It wasn't an MMA fight, it was just a 6 second KO.

But with Ngannou vs Fury there is no excuse. There wasn't a 6 second KO. It was 10 rounds where the boxer simply had no tools to outclass and easily dispatch the MMA fighter. Not only that, Fury is considered the best in the world or at least one of the 2 best. While Timmeh had been humilliated by Fedor and stopped in 40 seconds, came to that fight overweight at nearly 300 pounds and never really reach the top of the sport again. He was top 10 in the world at best by that point.

tldr: Timmeh vs Mercer only says that in MMA anything can happen. Ngannou vs Fury actually makes MMA look good and boxing look REALLY BAD.

Fury is nothing like Timmy? OK

If Tim was finished as a fighter, what does that make Ray Mercer?

Wow, D1 Monson? Didn't he win an NCAA wrestling title, or go to the Olympics? Timmy must be an elite grappler to win a 5 round decision over him.
LOL Yeah, Timmeh stopped the sloppy takedowns attempts of a 5'8'' midget that got tired in the first round.

"out grappled"

So an MMA fighter and a boxer can fight when they are in a nursing home and we will somehow call that a meaningful fight? Yes, they were both shadows of their former selves, the fight meant nothing.

Well I always point out that mercer got wrestlefucked by kimbo of all people

Tim was 33, Mercer was 48 yrs old. Tim was arguably in his prime. He came in fast just like fury did for the ngannou fight.

You sound like some of these boxing fans who make excuses for why fury "lost".

Tyson and Timmy is not the same type of fighter.
