Poirier is a great fighter. What is his weakness?
Is it his lack of flexibility?
He has good footwork but is slow on the feet.
If he chases his opponent it looks like he is bowing down when he is 'running'. It doesn't look athletic. something is missing there but I don't know what it is.

From a technical standpoint he made a wrong decision by chasing Conrat when Conrat was running backwards. He got away with it because Conrat is washed up and has no timing anymore.
Even Khabib clipped Poirier when he was chasing Khabib.
I think this is a weakness of Poirier. The fight needs to be stationary for him for his skills.

Rear naked choke is his weakness

Better and bigger wrestlers can get him. Eddie had success in their first fight, but then the illegal knee came.
But he also had succes with it in the second, until the illegal 12-6 ellbows saved Poirier.
Khabib is the 3rd fight he had problems with good grapplers.
He could have problems with Oliveira on the ground.

When he moved forwards towards Conor, he was crouched to avoid all punches other than uppercuts. But he also ducked to his right, so Conors left can't catch him.
Conor would have to do a check uppercut, which is extremely difficult and he is not known for it.

Everybody can be knocked out behind the ear or at the temple. Most of the lw fighters would've been knocked out by the punch from MJ, too.

He probably could be caught in his switch stance attacks, if his opponents figures them out.
But I doubt there are that good boxers in the UFC, or not many.

He gets away with pressing Conor because a) he moves his head when closing distance b) Conor is not comfortable in the pocket, so if you slip through his first counter, he jams up

Nothing to do with Conor being shot imo.

Another thing: ring IQ is a lot about having a feeling for not just what is available mechanically, but also what the state of the opponent is mentally and physically. Is he confident or apprehensive? Is he fresh or recovering from a burst of activity? Dustin is good at this stuff, which allows him to break down quicker, more athletic fighters.

Not an amazing athlete
Can be a bit stiff
Can get tired (but is very good at pushing through when fatigued)
Has been put in sub trouble more than once when he has had top position
Low kicks caused him problems when he fought Miller

Him and all of ATT have a good/bad habbit of boxing off the fence. Against a solid cage wrestler its a wrap because of how easy dustin is to back up when not exchanging

As the fight goes on, he gets quite sloppy with his stand up and gets taken down quite easy when that begins.
