And he isn’t right. Country night sells out in every bar in NYC. When Luke Bryan or Jason Aldean comes to town it’s a sell out in MSG. It is a movement that is in the mood for an alternative to urban music. Some people still want to hear actual songs with instruments, not someone mumbling and whining with auto tune over canned beats.NYC is one small part of the nation. There are entire states where country music is the most popular genre, from Utah to Virginia.
These are my top 10 artists I listened to last year.
1. Spaceslug
2. Bongtower
3. Truckfighters

6. Lowrider
7. Mastodon
8. Big Business
9. Brant Bjork
10. OM
I do wonder what my 4 year old is going to listen to when he gets older. He’s spent all 4 years being constantly exposed to great rock music, as well as me on the guitar and piano around him all the time. Hoping he gets some of that via osmosis. But with my luck, he’ll be into whatever the equivalent of dub step is in 6 years.
My man... Tekashi and Lil Pump are discernable trash though.Part of me does just think that thinking the music young people are listening to sucks is just part of getting old, though.
I've been listening to a lot less rap lately as I've been finding very little coming out lately that interests me, but I still find it amusing that Lil Pump - a one-hit wonder from over 3 years ago - is still considered by people to be the face of modern hip-hop by those who want to discredit it.My man... Lil pump, lil peep, lil dicksucker, lil *insert stoopid word* etc, they all suck imo.I've been listening to a lot less rap lately as I've been finding very little coming out lately that interests me, but I still find it amusing that Lil Pump - a one-hit wonder from over 3 years ago - is still considered by people to be the face of modern hip-hop by those who want to discredit it.
I mean, I guess Soulja Boy was a similar case 10+ years ago but at least he low-key had a couple secondary hits too lol

Mostly rap.. at least in California. I used to listen to rap in the 90s and now I can't stand newer rap. Mainstream Rock by today's definition is basically syth or EDM and it's garbage also. I don't know what it is but when I see some dorky white kid bumping rap music from their car I just shake my head. Even better is when it's some white trash kid with his hat on backwards, tatted up, smoking a cig, etc.
Fortunately there's still good rock music being made, it's just pretty much underground now. You just have to look for it.
