MMA coaching is mostly made up of bro scientists and failed competitors. You get the sense that some of them are living vicariously through fighters, while not protecting them.

Not saying this is the case here but in general, this sport attracts scumbags

I love hearing coaches use the royal “we” when discussing their fighter.

I don't care if it really is a concussion or a poor weight cut, this kid is 100% at fault for not informing the UFC sooner of head trauma or for being too big for the division. This isn't the first time he's fucked us either

MMA needs to move away from the stupid notion of agents, managers, and coaches being paid a percentage of the fighters’ purse by the fighter, which is dependent on them showing up to their bout.

It’s a lot harder to do your job of looking out for your fighters best interests when you’ve got a large financial stake in them fighting too, and the fighter is much more likely to want to push through bad situations and fight if they owe their team money.

It also gets rid of the ridiculous notion that a 2 month camp is worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Probably because his camp was already banking on the revenue form the fight. The trainers, facility, training, etc. is expensive
