He is in a weird and kind of shitty position. He is the #1 contender but has already lost to DJ twice and convincingly. I doubt they want to make Joe vs DJ 3, what can they say... Joe would need to win a couple more and win in stunning fashion to be able to promote a 3rd. What does Joe do if DJ keeps that belt?

Rebook the Ben Nguyen bout as a title eliminator.

He does what Rich Franklin did...move up in weight class

A role in the next Star Wars film that features Ewoks.

I don't really believe that "But he lost twice..." thing. If he keeps himself motivated and stays at the top (despite losing to champ twice), that means he deserves another shot. I'd be ok with 3rd or 4th or 5th fight between them as long as Benavidez is winning contender fights

won his last 6 I think.

Nothing against a 3rd shot tbh.

3rd times a charm , you know.

After that , you have to move up or down ....

he has fought there before, was good there too, except for Cruz being there at the time. Cruz is at 135, now so is Cody. tough fights up there too. I'd say try for a another TS at DJ. I wish DJ to move up though.

If DJ goes off superfighting, WME/UFC would be more than happy to have an interim belt fight between Joe and whomever else, and then hype up a “unification” bout.
