When you hear the phrase "unattractive actor" who's the first person that comes to mind?

Always wondered how casting went for roles where the person is supposed to look unattractive and ugly.

Is it awkward, or have the potential actors accepted by then that they're ugly AF and are just willing to take the work, self esteem be damned?
I think they know walking in most of the time. Clancy Brown's agent wasn't sending him to calls for "handsome nice guy" so much as "tall and menacing." Kathy Najimy started out thinner with a nice rack but even then was probably walking into "female lead's funny friend" readings. Career kind of took off with weight gain.

I've always thought this must be particuarly bad with roles for children.
"Ok kid, you're playing the fat loser who gets bullied by everyone"
That's why John Hughes used a boy in a wig to be in the picture of "Buzz's girlfriend *woof*" in Home Alone.

Like....why?

Apple TV+ Echo 3's lead actress. While watching this I kept wondering why they casted an ugly actress where the husband was so in love and risked his life to rescue her. Her personality at the end also would have deterred her rescue.

Textbook penis nose. Makes me wonder if evolution is making exposed penis on the face for more procreation.

At this point if he changed it, it would be Jennifer Grey II. Only a nose job would actually help his cause.

Buscemi or Howard, as my fine Sherbrethren have already noted!
