Which first world country would you never go to? (Exclude Israel & Russia)

Its from the political term of the cold war.
Not the way we use 1,2,3 world today about standard and industrial.
I've long since given up trying to get people to use those terms the way they are supposed to

How is Venezuela a first world country? Isn't it one the the most violent and poor places in latin America? How are people claiming asylum then from that country if it's first world?

It used to be "first world" but isn't currently. I did an exchange there in the mid 90's when it had a pro-U.S. government and it had a first world infrastructure in the big cities. Venezuela was a founding member of OPEC and was the richest country in South America at one point. Not to turn this into a WR thread but their economy has pretty much gone to shit under Chavez and now Maduro since 1999. It's believed their economy is now <$2K GDP/capita (good data isn't available) down from around $15K/capita 10 years earlier. But like other countries that have gone downhill, some of their people are very well educated because they grew up in a "first world" system.

Besides Israel & Russia for obvious reasons.

For me I'd say Turkey, just no interest in going there.

From that list I’d say South Korea. I’ve been to several Asian countries, namely Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan but have never had any interest to go to South Korea. For future trips to Asia I’d rather go to China, Indonesia, Taiwan or the Philippines.

My older brother who’s been to all of the countries I listed, plus South Korea about five or six times (as he married a Korean) said South Korea sucks compared to all those other countries and is kind of like a really boring version of Japan.

Fascinating, it does make sense that South Korea is just a version of Japan.

Version probably wasn’t the best choice of word. Probably would have been more accurate to say if you asked him, out of all of those countries which one is South Korea most similar to, his answer would be Japan, but worse in every way he can think of.

Australia

I can't picture myself spending a day on a plane.

Singapore.

But I wouldn't call it 1st world, because of its lack of freedoms and government micromanagement of society. Singapore is just a city-state anyhow. Singapore, UAE are 1st world in the sense of infrastructure and the relative lack of corruption on the local level but not when it comes to human rights.

I would probably visit every country once even the shitty ones, but I would use a different passport thought LOL

Japan. No interest in going there. Plus, any country that wants to fingerprint me before I enter (essentially treating me like a criminal before I've even enetered) can fuck right off. Cunts.
America does the same thing too dude. I just got back from a trip. They 100% fingerprint here as well

Honestly probably Australia. Nothing there intrigues me. The cities don’t have anything I’m interested in and I’m not really an outdoors guy. The flight is also 20 hours or so for me and I struggle enough with flying to East Asia.

I disagree completely. South Korea (at least Seoul) feels oddly like the USA more than Japan, lot of American influence. Taiwan feels more like Japan than SK

Go to Malaysia on the same trip and also spend a few days in Singapore. It’s a great city yet you wouldn’t know any of that was happening if you didn’t go online or read the news. It’s a clean city and great food. Expensive though for that part of the world which is why I recommend making Malaysia a main destination and Singapore a side trip for 3 days or so. I loved the zoo and night safari there

Hard to imagine Venezuela is first world country these days. With all the Venezuela people fleeing the country for the US and elsewhere due to their socialist government policies, 90% of their people live in poverty, they are first at causing their people to leave for other locations. I wouldn't want to visit Venezuela.

The only reason I know Luxembourg even exists is because it keeps showing up at the top of GDP per capita lists. I'm not sure I could find it on a map to be honest.
My old VO coach lived there.

This fucker ate steak and lobster for breakfast and had stupid expensive retreats there. Its a place for rich people.

That's funny because when my wife and I went to Japan, we spoke to one of her family friends who lives in South Korea and has been all over Asia and said he prefers SK to Japan completely. But he did also say they were similar.
