Other then Holmes,Tyson,Spinks ( or a top hw that I am forgetting, although I think those are the best ones) who was the best hw midcarder of the 80s?

Witherspoon did take a prime Holmes to a SD. But i think maybe Pinklon? Had wins over Tillis, Weaver, Witherspoon and only lost to Berbick, Tyson, and Holyfield in the 80's

maybe Berbick with the wins over Pinklon, Page and a shot Ali?

Smith did get stopped by Holmes twice, 15 years a part in a fun but sad fact to think about.

It's tough to rate that whole era because so many of those guys were very talented, but also really inconsistent. I think a guy like Tubbs had a ton of talent, but he had plenty of issues outside the ring and rarely showed up in good shape. Witherspoon had some really good showings all the way into the 90s. Tucker is another guy with a lot of talent. If Tucker had a bit more of a promotional push and better luck getting fights in the 80s he might have gained some separation from the rest of the group.
