Crime Woman wins over $2 million at Casino. Casino refuses to pay claiming machine malfunctioned.

It's a little hard to understand why they would set the default malfunction to a win rather than some random set. My guess is so they can scam people better without getting caught. It adds a plausible sort of confusion.

If I was the old lady I would burn the casino down

Oh they pulled the classic, "We're not responsible! Those machines are 3rd party"
I remember when Arcade owners would say that bullshit all the time in the 90's.
Some of those racing games back then would gobble a dollar or 2 dollars worth of quarters and give you nothing in return.

I tried to buy one of those really healthy Nutri-Grain fruit bars that all the fit Sherdoggers eat, from a machine at work. It gladly charged my credit card, but gave me nothing!

It's fucking Maximum Overdrive/Terminator IRL... It's the god damned AI, it's coming for us all.

I'm not a lawyer but it seems to me that this particular lady should be able to sue the Casino for her winnings plus legal costs to obtain said winnings.

Good move on suing the fuck out of them.
She should rightfully win because here I am hearing about this on a fight forum. If they dont pay, zero people will go to that casino when others can go elsewhere.

Even paying out after all this will cost some customer traffic. UNLESS, theres some tampering or deliberate rule breaking going on, pay it and forget it.

Just make sure it doesnt open up doors to take advantage.

That's what they said about numerous other similar cases and the casino didn't pay out. People still kept going - most likely because it's the closest casino location to them.

This reminds me of the case of Phil Ivey winning 7.7 million at a UK casino. He was able to read a defect in the actual cards and win millions. It's not his fault the cards had a defect.

Maybe it their employee/contractor did this on purpose after a dispute.

One of few times I’m rooting for the lawyer

If you start to look at US businesses as wealth-transfer schemes it makes a lot of dots connect. In this light Casino corporations and Prosperity Preachers share a common goal, they'll go to any lengths to get your dying Grandmother's last $100, because they genuinely feel that every Grandmother's last $100 is better spent upgrading their private jet than it is remaining with them until they die.

My Grandmother loved Casino environments, and I never understood why, what was the allure? She wasnt a bored wealthy person, former celebrity, or whatever. She just liked the vibe of the environment, and bought j to the scam of selling hope.
If you are dumb enough to put money into a machine with twinkly lights, inside a building known for encouraging you to part with your money and where odds are proven to be stacked against you...i don't have a whole lot of sympathy..

Sure but just like the prosperity Churches, we could say people are just plain stupid for going to those considering how much those guys just demand the money of the parishoners. They're just dumb and kind of deserve it. But one thing those goons do is every now and again they'll pick a random person and pay off their mortgage. Then they'll attribute it to God and the collective noble effort of the Church. Like their version of a jackpot. People see that and hope God will bless them the same way.

Selling hope is good business. Selling logic, not so much.

same thing happened to me a chuck e cheese.

I made 6 rolls in a row in the skee ball game up into the high scoring corner hole. the game was literally saying 'make 6 in a row and you win the grand prize'. I made the 6 and it didn't count the final one.

they didn't want to give me the tickets despite 10 or 12 people around me confirming that I made 6 in a row.

Amazing that gamblers don't boycott casinos that are known to operate this way. If nothing else, its bad pr. You'd think a big casino would just settle and sweep it under the rug.

That's like expecting heroine addicts to boycott their dealer.

A single case ain't bringing down any Casino. Most already go in with the knowledge that they're about to throw their money into an incinerator, even if everything is on the up and up. People blow their brains out in the parking lot after losing their life savings, and people just tip toe around the bloody chunks on their way to the bright lights and chance at riches.

Nothing can really hurt the allure of the Casino for gamblers.

I did forget about the addiction. If it's the only casino there then I guess, that's that.
