It seems Jake Paul was insistent on a rematch clause. Which means Woodley now has to beat Jake Paul twice.
Take from it what you will.
What can you say - the kid really wants to see how far he can take it. All props to him IMO.Its weird this fight is even happening. Woodley isnt really a big name relative to the threat he poses, and Jake could easily fight Floyd after Logan for much more money and attention.
Tf? Why? Is Jake a champion pro boxer or did I miss something ?
?? He's a former, not to distant UFC champion. Its weird this fight is even happening. Woodley isnt really a big name relative to the threat he poses, and Jake could easily fight Floyd after Logan for much more money and attention.
Quite the opposite imo. Woodley is much older than jake. The more time pass, the less he has a chanceIf Woodley wins, a rematch will probably only be easier for Woodley. Dude only gonna sharpen his boxing skills more for a second fight.

Even during the Askren build up Woodley seemed to be highlighted all most as much as Askren was.
Woodley was the natural progression.

Dude isn't gonna age that much more in 3-6 months. He's already old and boxing training is a lot less rough on the body than MMA, too. So it will be relatively easy for him in that aspect. If they do the rematch 2 years later, then yeah, that's probably a bigger disadvantage.
Why would Woodley need to take a dive? There's a rematch clause for a reason and it's not for Woodley's benefit"relative to the threat he poses"
Askren is considered to be one of the worst male strikers ever to enter the UFC, Woodley is considered to be one of the biggest punchers ever at this weight class, but has never been one of MMAs bigger names. The risk/reward for Jake is pretty poor in this fight unless Woodley has agreed to take a dive.
But you also have to consider that Paul would also improve during that time, and since he's younger and less experienced in combat sport, id expect him to improve more
That's clever, he can make twice as much money.https://www.mmafighting.com/2021/6/...ul-fight-paul-asking-automatic-rematch-clause

This is true. But he’s only in the position to do this because of that UFC career.Great for Woodley. He's going to make more money in 2 boxing matches than he made in his entire UFC career.
