The new guidelines regarding instant replay state that it can only be used in “fight-ending sequences,” like the one with Mousasi and Weidman at UFC 210. A referee, at his or her discretion, can check a replay to determine whether or not a foul or legal blow ended the fight. The referee can use that information to decide the result — the winner, whether the fight is a TKO, submission, no contest or disqualification.

Instant replay will not be used to review the actions of the referee, the guideline states. Also, if instant replay is used that means the fight is over. No matter what is culled from the replay, the fight cannot be restarted.

“The sole purpose of Instant Replay in MMA is to allow the referee to make a correct call on the outcome of the fight in calling,” the proposal from the rules and regulations committee to the ABC states.

Teh Chris defines irony.

He lost that fight that was the catalyst for instant replay, and then won a fight that involved instant replay.

Just like when he broke Anderson Silva's leg with a check and then broke his own leg from a check

Ahh The way the blood spurts out of his eye all over weidmans finger on the slow mo was just great . What a win. Teh Chris coming for that TS

it seems so obvious. to record and play back footage. you can have one guy on this and have it popped up ready to go in a couple of minutes or less. there are a lot of little improvements they could make that make decisions way more clear and decisive and there is no controversy

Legit? We'll see the first time it's used.

Chris fakes a KO from legal shots and talks shit about a fighter reacting to an intentional 1-2 eyepoke and complains about a legal punch.

The only reason he had any success was because his fingers were out all fight.

Bruno Silva after that eagle talon double eye claw finishing sequence:

Weidman is an unlikeable human with little redeeming qualities, he is also very forgettable. In his defence though, he has taken a lot of brain damage and likely has CTE which could be contributing to his comments.

Chris was actively waving his fingers in his face all fight. it was pretty disgusting to watch to be honest, there was nothing accidental about those fingers going in Bruno's eyes once he realised he wasn't even going to be warned about it.

It's got to be overturned on review to a NC, it should have been a DQ.

Yeah man, I saw it happening in real time too.

Deliberate, trained actions. Both the waving as a constant threat, and the actual pokes. A combo poke for crying out loud. Blatant. Deliberate. Disgusting.

But I doubt that anything will change due to a review, which is disgusting also.

It's going to take someone losing an eye before eye pokes start actually being punished. Guys like Jones and Weidman will just keep doing it because there has been zero consequences for them.

Not surprising that guys who were strongly believed or caught red handed using PEDs would also be the same guys cheating during the fight as well.

But Chris Weidman is the definition of karma - celebrate breaking a guy's leg? Your leg gets broken.

Some of that karma will hopefully catch him again in his next fight. Wear eye protection, Chris. Karma is coming.
