Yair is the FW Anthony Pettis

Yair towered over Rogan at 5'11" - looked like half a foot taller easy. Rogan and 5'6" Volkanovski were about level but the difference is Joe was wearing lifts.

This is disrespectful to Yair at this point IMO.

1. Pettis never had the plethora of attacks and multitude of elements refined on the feet like Yair does.

2. Yair doesn't just lose fights by crumbling like Pettis did multiple times.

Both great kickers, with tkd bases of course, but not a great comparison IMO.

It's incredible how much people still read into the Edgar fight.

Yair was 24. A baby in MMA years. Fighting against one of the lighter weight class GOATs.

Now we just need to find some poster whose friends think he looks like Yair Rodriguez in gay.
Just like in the old times with Anthony Perez

Yair is more mentaly durable and has plot armor. (the elbow vs Zombie, the shoulder pop vs Ortega, eyepoking Stephen to avoid a 5 rounder)
I still think Pettis has better Bjj tho.

The real question

Prime Edgar vs Volk

Can we pick an actual Pettis KO? The Showtime kick was dope and all, but Bendo got back up and kept scrapping.

Lauzon and Cerrone.

They share similarities, but to me Yair has a better striking and Pettis has a better BJJ off his back.

Same base styles but Yair uses those techniques and more.
Pettis only used a select few, and occasionally.

Who do you think he's fighting tonight?
Im not a fan of Volk but the dude is certainly one of the best to do this at 145 sir.

Simalar

yairs has to finish to win - if ur picking him - it has to be to finish for better odds

He’s exciting and fun but I don’t think he’s the best in the world - should be a fun fight though

Did you somehow miss the part about Yair being only 24 in the Edgar fight?

it's a little bit warranted

I think Yair is the next evolution of a guy like Pettis, but you can't deny the similarities.

Flashy strikers that have lost against pressure fighters

The problem with Pettis never recovered after USADA

Slight change

Both fighters can pull off flash Submissions out of nowhere

Yet both also look like shit against fighters that push the pace or depend heavily on grappling

+ It's not a good look when Max can beat you by out grappling you

Alex is too smart, gotta be an easy fight for him.

Did you know that Aaron Simpson is the 30s version of a 40s Randy Couture??!

There are some similarities but you are overlooking Yair's toughness. He has the warrior spirit and is fighter to the core. Pettis is/was a very talented guy but lacked the toughness of the very best. Yair is the better fighter. He won't quit or wilt under pressure. Does he have a few holes in his game? Yes, but he's working on closing those and getting better all the time. This board has severely underestimated Yair over the years. Will he win? Maybe not since Volk is a monster. I give Yair a fighting chance in this one. He may surprise everybody.

Both are solid finishes.

More importantly, unlike Pettis, Yair is no quitter.
Anthony Pettis was a quitter, who failed in his big fights.

Pettis was a defending champion with many finishes against elite fighters.

Yair never champ, brutal losses to the elite. And has no finishes against former champs or elite fighters

Pettis has had some bad losses AFTER his reign at the top but in his prime he would absolutely destroy Yair.

Pettis resume of wins > Yair

And it's not even close

Yair was compares a lot to Jones and Pettis early in his career.
