I totally forgot to mention Sinister Slaughter. Thanks for reminding me.

Have you heard Mike Watt, Bernie Worrell & J. Mascis' version of Maggot Brain. It's pretty brilliant.

I always wanted to buy that Ween album. I didn't really like them, but I used to check out the album every time I went to the music store as a young teen...

I have these 3 framed on my wall

"Panda Bear" does nothing for me, but I love the cover to their album "Person Pitch"

Sonny Kay makes a lot of really cool covers. He's done a bunch for Omar Rodriguez Lopez' solo albums

Oh wow, thats pretty cool. I've never heard that before. I'm a fan of all 3 of those guys.
Ween can be hard to get into. But they wrote a tribute song to Edie Hazel who played guitar on Maggot Brain thats pretty good. Its an instrumental

Ok, that song was really good. I love mellow jams like that.

That album came out when I was 14. My tastes have changed a lot since then. I was into Pearl Jam, Bad Religion, NOFX, Nine Inch Nails... I liked Primus but apart from that I just liked fast music back then.

Maggot Brain was the closing track on "Ball Hog or Tugboat" by Mike Watt, which came out in 95 and went largely unnoticed, probably because the first single from the album was the worst song on the album. Watt invited just about every musician he knew to come over and they wrote the album in the studio collaboratively. I think Maggot Brain is the only cover.

The album features members of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beastie Boys, Henry Rollins, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Black Flag, The Pixies, Circle-Jerks, The Lemonheads, The Screaming Trees, The Meat Puppets, That Dog, Nels Cline... It's a really good album imo, lots of variety, but it's wasn't as good as you'd expect from a super-group like that I guess.

I'm definitely going to check that out. What a great line up. I see the Kirkwood brothers from the Meat Puppets on there. And Stephen Perkins from Janes Addiction/Porno For Pyros. I always liked it when Mike Watt played with Porno For Pyros
