Commentary: first up, no accessory works because I just didnt have time today. All I wanted to do was get in and get a big final set done - and I did! I was slow on 6, really struggled on 7 but just had enough to push through the 8th rep. Very very happy!

Off for a session at the distant 10th Planet School tomorrow, then the beach. Got to reat yourself sometimes :)

No assistance today - I have two three hour jiu-jitsu seminars over the weekend, so I don't want to be sore for them (5 x 10 extra deadlifts will do that to me, I don't have the recovery).

Bit upset with my lifting this week - im just coming into each session fatigued. Its getting hot now and im not sleeping as well, and im in the middle of exams. Hopefully in a week or two when things start to settle I can get more focussed.

Still, by estimated PL total has increased by 60 pounds in the last few weeks, so I cannot complain, im still making good progress - I just want it to be better!

Ill be sure to post a review and notes on the seminars (saturday gi, sunday no gi). Ill be going in early throughout the week to ask Drysdale questions as well - he was at training last night and is just so friendly!

3 hours of gi jiu-jitsu (Drysdale day 1):

- Deep Half Guard Pass
- Deep Half Guard Ezekiel Choke
- Deep Half Guard Armbar
- Deep Half Guard Rolling Back Take
- De La Riva Guard Pass
- BONUS: Guard Retention Drill

Lots of details arising out of the traditional half guard pass, where you are crawling up their body, close to passing to they try to go deep, how to prevent it from being dangerous and how to counter.

I can provide detailed notes if any of that interests you. The choke in particular is very nice, high percentage and offers a lot of straight passing opportunities if you cannot finish.

Nogi tomorrow.
 
Sunday, 13th November

3 hours of nogi jiu-jitsu (Drysdale day 2):

- Hooks Guard Armdrag (variations on finishes)
- Hooks Guard Guillotine
- Hooks Guard Shoulder Lock (with transition to Inverted Armbar)
- Front choke grip variations and transitions
- BONUS: Counters to opponent trying to stand in your omoplata

We then had about 30 minutes of open mat, with Robert giving us little pointers as he was watching us roll.

I can provide details on any of the techniques over the two days as requested.

It doesn't exist at all here. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a wrestling coach at your academy, you're not going to wrestle, period. Our coach was an olympic alternate for Kazakhstan in freestyle, so thats what we learn. He actually now has a Judo BB and a Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt, so its more freestyle wrestling adapted for submission grappling. Lots of emphasis on the real basics.
