[No Source - Unconfirmed] Bret Hart On MMA vs. Wrestling

This is coming from a guy who was kicked in the head so hard by Goldberg he had to retire.

That's right, and in contrast, Hart never hurt anyone in his entire career. That is the art. Any idiot can hurt someone. The hard part is to make it look like you're hurting someone every night and never injure anyone in your entire career.

He's not technically right if you can reverse his quote, yet it remains true:

"Any idiot can act and pretend. It takes talent to have a real fight with someone for 25 minutes maximum, to really hurt each other, and at the end of it nobody gets anything worse than 3 months suspension."

Tell me this is not true!

It sounds like you're trying to make a case for MMA being a work. "...to have a real fight with someone...and at the end of it nobody gets anything worse than 3 months suspension."

If it's a real fight, how can you guarantee that nobody will get hurt any worse than requiring a 3 month suspension? You're not making any sense. Plenty of fighters are suspended from fighting again for a lot longer than 3 months after a fight. In contrast, Bret Hart could make it look like he was hurting his opponent, yet he never injured anyone in his entire career. He was that good at what he did.

You know why Bret Hart is one of the only respectable wrestling greats? While they have all been interviewed about MMA and pretty much all sold out when they said that yes, they would have been MMA fighters if UFC was as big in their era, Bret said that no he would have still been a pro wrestler(a different art of its own) because that's his true love.

It takes real talent to have a match with someone for 30 minutes or so, to look like you're hurting each other, and at the end of it nobody gets anything worse than some bruises."
Describes Ben Henderson pretty well minus the bruises and looking like you're hurting each other part

Apples and oranges.

One's acting and performing stunts. The other is real combat. Each have their own unique skill but is an entirely different field.

Just ask this guy...

If he had just gone for that knee...

lmao bret hart is a whiny smug loser, always has been.

never seemed like a nice guy.

uhh yeah "talent"

Sean Michaels will always be better than you brah!!

"It's one thing to go and be a cop in real life, anyone can arrest someone. It takes real skill to pretend to arrest people on camera and make it look real".

Seriously get the fuck out with that bullshit...

He has a point and there's no doubt the WWE guys have a tougher schedule with competing multiple times a week, but at the end of the day Real competition > Pre-determined results

Pro wrestling takes talent just like acting does. He's just being all Meryl Streep about it.

Guess according to Bret, boxing is for idiots too cuz they hurt each other too. What an idiot. Boxing, kick boxing, MMA are COMBAT sports which are meant to hurt your opponent in order to win. Wrestling is a entertainment show and is even terrible at doing that nowadays.

Ken Shamrock has done well in MMA pretending to hurt people and losing. That is art.

I just became a Goldberg fan

he may as well be describing a choreographed dance routine -- it's way easier to go through a script than partake in an unknown.

Any idiot can learn to ride a bike too, right..Bret?

Was he really talking about MMA here or about wrestlers who go in there and don't do their job.

Because he got injured by a goldberg kick that didn't go the way it was supposed to.

I guess he's right. I mean one is getting punched in the face and the other one is almost getting punched in the face to make it it look like they are getting punched in the face.
