When’s the last time Rogan has called a UFC champion “amateurish” like he did with Khabib?

Khabib was fighting for the title vs someone nobody wanted to see. Everyone is thinking about Ferguson or Mcgregor, including Rogan. He was speaking to that when he was calling the fight for obvious reasons. Nobody is thinking gee I wonder how TJ will stack up vs so and so when he is in there with Cody. This is expected

Khabib has never faced a top contender either. Those questions are out there. Even conor faced short notice mendes. Khabib went through Johnosn (1-5 in his last 6 and just lost to Elkins at 145), Barboza (tailor made striker and not a title contender), and now raging Al to get the title. Regardless of where you think Khabib will end up after testing himself vs the best, its hasn't been done yet. It's not 2014 (RDA then wasnt a top contender and he;s on a 2 fight losing streak at LW now) and Barboza isn't at the top level and tailor made style wise. Khabib has new tests ahead of him and everyone with a functioning brain is thinking about it

Is this the first time Rogan has said this about a champion?

What I'm beginning to understand about Khabib is that his striking, while it isn't text book, it seems to be decently effective..he's awkward. and his wrestling makes his striking even more effective...

I'm confused,,, Khabib dominated the striking against Iaquinta... If Khabib's striking is amateurish what does that make Al's?

Post is full of inaccuracies, dare I to say lies

1) MJ was coming from a huge KO win over Poirier and had wins over Tony, Barboza etc
2) Barboza is not a tailor made striker, he has arguably the best TDD of the division and had just koed Dariush with a brutal knee
3) RDA was on a 5 win streak and became champ 1 year later

90% or probably more of the WMMA fights in UFC are very amateurish and below male amateur level, but Rogan never says nothing, he is acting like the slop-fest is some high level fighting. Never criticizes it

Well it's been a while since someone was so one dimensional like Khabib and able to get to the title and win. Honestly can't remember anyone like that.

Rogan is a walking joke at this point, prising Ronda to be once ever human being after finish a bunch of soccer moms with clearly atrocious striking with non-existence head movement, Khabib absolutely 50-43 a dangerous oponents like Al in 1 fucking day notice and he is amateurish, in a fight he never was in any danger and beat his oponent at his strengt.

Dude is proably worse than Chael at this point

How many "champions" have won their belts fighting the #11 guy?

This is the same guy that had the damn nerve to call Ronda's striking high level. Why do people still listen to Rogan?

So the man can't learn from his previous mistakes and call out Honda level striking when he sees it? If anything you should be proud of Rogan.

Joe hasn’t learned anything. A couple weeks ago joe was slobbering all over Ngannou, and called him a 1 in a million athlete. His personal bias has always been the problem.

The funniest part was " short notice Mendes ".

What are you talking about?

His jab was awesome. He tagged Al with multiple rights after it. The only bad thing he did was leave his chin up while moving straight back. Something Al couldn’t take advantage of.

You guys are idiots.

Rogan is the one most responsible for what commonplace MMA fans think of as "good technique" or "poor technique". The reason Barboza was comically only a slight underdog to Khabib is because Rogan has a hard on for guys with flashy shit and specifically typical Muay Thai and karate strikers. When a guy like Khabib, who comes from a striking school Rogan is unfamiliar with, blows thru 'the most elite striker ever' in Barboza, then Rogan's brain can not process it and he explains away the striking domination owing to simply the threat of takedowns. Khabib was not even threatening the takedown in the third and fourth rounds and still bludgeoned Al. The same type thinking that Rogan shows also exists fans that fancy they know boxing, that if you do not have an orthodox stance/style that your boxing sucks and leads you to believe that Eddie Alvarez would beat Conor on the feet (LEL!!!).

3) RDA was on a 5 win streak and became champ 1 year later
But the delusional Khabib Deniers say that RDA became Uber RDA after the Khabib loss <Lmaoo> Oh yah, then lost his prime when he fought Eddie and Tony and was reborn as Uber RDA 2.0 when he went to WW, had nothing to do with the fact that Eddie, Tony and Khabib were just better than him. <45>

What the actual fuck is the matter with you?

MJ is indeed 1-5 in his last 6. That is a factual statement. He just lost to Elkins at 145. That is a factual statement

Ok you might think Dariush is a brilliant striker and that Barboza has the best TDD, but to say either of those things are debatable might be the understatement of the year

RDA was not a title contender when he fought Khabib. He went on a long win streak to become one. The fight vs Khabib was in 2014. RDA has lost two in a row at LW and left the division. Those are also facts

You can hype johnson and barboza all you want if it gives you some sort of reassurance that Khabib is an unstoppable force but to say my post if full of inaccuracies to the point of lies is just flat out absurd
