This is where you are at, Benedict Trumpers, a freaking laughing stock.

Please do tell when our relations have been better since after WW2 with our super power rivals

Laughing at Republicans is all we have left. They have no principle, shame, or self-respect, so we won't reach them with reason. So we might as well enjoy the laughs on our way down into the abyss.

Relations were not poor under Gorbachev and Yelstein. Both were progressives wanting to normalize relations with the west. Putin was a return to cold war Russia. I don't understand why you would think you would ever have good relations with a country being run by a former spook.

Edited to remove comment about Putin being the head of the KGB.

Trump has cucked himself out to the Russians and the Saudis and to distract from it started a laughable 'tariff war' with Murkan allies that will only hurt Murkans more.

He loves our enemies and hates our friends.
SAD!

they arent a superpower.

relations are good because we're being cucked.

Yes, exactly. Russia hasn't been a superpower since they bankrupted themselves trying to keep up with the US and subsequently collapsed in the late 80s/early 90s. Putin would like everyone to believe that they're still a credible superpower, and thus a real threat to the West, but the fact is that as long as the post WW2 Western alliances remain in tact, Russia stays weak. And that's the irony of course: Trump keeps telling all of us how we need to get along with Russia (as if he doesn't know that Russia would get completely Zulu'd if it ever dared step to the US). But there is no real threat, lest of course the US pulls back from its traditional role as the protector of Western values in the word. He's simultaneously working to minimize a threat that he's actively creating.

I can't begin to imagine how anyone could seriously believe Trump showed anything but weakness in Helsinki

I asked a question, that really hasn’t been answered yet.

But it seems pretty clear the left would prefer starting WW3
... if someone on the left disagrees with the way this POTUS handles Russia, they want WW3?
That's an unsupportable line of reductive reasoning

They seem to prefer not having any relations with Russia, and seem to blame EVERYTHING on them. Like they are the boogeyman or something
